Was this movie even good?

Never cared about Muppets but after watching great Jim Henson films like Labyrinth made me interested

What should I check out?

It's a great love letter to the Muppet show, and what it meant, and what made it work. It's the sequel that kind of throws it all under the bus.

The Muppets is A+ movie, a love letter.

The sequel Most Wanted is average at best. Nothing special you can ignore.

The Unnecessarily Extended Edition version for Most Wanted should have been the vesion that was shown in the theatres instead.

it was great everyone know that. have you been living under a rock this whole time dude ?

What are the better muppet movies?

Start with the Muppet Show. Either binge the whole thing, or watch specific guests that you like, or sketches.
Then watch the Muppet Movie, Great Muppet Caper and Muppets Take Manhattan. Optionally, watch the Jim Henson Show, it's a good mix of Muppet content, behind the scenes stuff and episodes of the Storyteller, which you will like if you like Labyrinth.
Then watch Muppet Christmas Carol and Muppet Treasure Island, they are the best Muppet content produced after Jim's death. Finally, watch 2011. The rest of it is either mediocre to bad, like Oz and the ABC sitcom, or just up to your own discretion, like Muppet Babies.
Also watch Muppet Family Christmas every year with Christmas Carol.

The Dark Crystal+ The Dark Crystal Netflix show

Did I get zapped onto an alternate universe? I always thought the general consensus was that "The Muppets" was fine but more a movie about Muppet fans than about the Muppets, while "Muppets Most Wanted " was the better more Muppet-y movie.

WHY THE FUCK ISN'T THE MUPPET SHOW ON DISNEY PLUS?
And while I'm at it where's the Aladdin show? Or House of Mouse?

Most Wanted was borderline Disney sequel trash.

Disney wants you to watch their awful Mupper shows not the classic ones.

the muppet movie, is great but if you want the Extended Edition version of it then you will need to pirate it, it's on a dvd bootleg only you see..

the bluray only has the cut version of that movie.

Literally anything Jim Henson worked on in his lifetime is great. Although, if you're just getting into it, it's probably best to start with the Muppet Show the same way said.

>nu-disney muppet show

Muppet's treasure island

I want the original Muppets you fuck.

If they wanted to, I think they could put up the DVD versions of seasons 1-3, but it depends on what the renegotiated music contracts they made back then allow.

>the Muppet Christmas Carol is also great, you can find the uncut version of it on private trackers
myspleen is one of them.

In this order, for me it's

Treasure Island
Christmas Carol
The Great Muppet Caper
The Muppets (2011)
The Muppet Movie

It's funny and sad how accurate that joke has become.

What joke?

Muppets 2011 was a self-insert fanfic written by a guy more interested in calling himself the Muppets' savior then actually doing the work to be the Muppets' savior.

and yet it was a big hit with the Muppet fans.

>Labyrinth
>a great movie

hell no. It's so obvious watching it how much of a rough patch Bowie's career was going through and it makes me sick how people only remember his fucking bulge

I wish Amy Adams was my mom.

No, it was a big hit with the normies.

Most Wanted feels like a robot was forced to write a "Henson-esque" Muppet movie, the 2011 one didn't feel Henson-esque at all but you can feel that it's still a love letter to the franchise

I cant believe just how bad Kermit sounds these days. Fuck them for screwing over his VA.

Most Wanted was more fun.
Both were good though.
