>"You are weak, son of El, unsure of yourself. The fact that you possess a sense of morality and we do not, give us an evolutionary advantage. And if history has proven anything, it is that evolution always wins."
Was it moral when the council exiled Kryptotits and her crew to a barren colony world? If not, why did Krypton perish, being that it was ruled by amoral bastards, fate's chosen?
Justin Gomez
Not how evolution works.
Carson Carter
The Kryptonians had a genetic caste system. The Zod-guys were bred soldiers who clearly sucked dick at anything but soldiering. Clark had the full Kryptonian DNA Codex thing in his biology so he was much more adaptable. A generalist organism is more likely to survive an evolutionary bottleneck.
In that evolution always wins, yea, technically. But everything before that is bullshit. Not that it's a bad line for villain or anything but it's a pretty subjective statement.
It’s pretty stupid that alien fuck who’s only experience was working on a mediocre farm and fight thugs, mobsters, terrorist, etc that literally couldn’t put a scratch on him and he can walk away from some of their most advanced tech without injury (so the equivalent of big fish only eating guppies) would win over the trained decorated military veteran that rise the rank of general. Smashing each other with building doesn’t hurt them so it’s all comes down to hand to hand combat and somehow the farm boy won? They really shouldn’t of made him his first villain

Except Morality is an evolutionary advantage. If it wasn’t humans wouldn’t have dominated the planet.
Cameron Bailey
They set up Zod to be a joke when Science Dad curbstomped him in the opening setpiece.
Dylan Thomas
Counterpoint: When had the Kryptonian Military been seen doing ANYTHING but attempt a coup that FAILED? Krypton was an isolationist society with a global government, the military was basically there as traditional window dressing and they got their asses kicked and locked in the phantom zone for being pissy.
Jace Green
>Superman is 33 and hides in a church >Zod and Faora are weird evolutionary fascists
I forgot just how blatantly Snyder was trying to appeal to church groups to come out in droves to see this movie
Superman was stronger since he had adapted to the sun’s radiation over a much longer time. Those pencil pushing military types had years for their mind, body, and spirit to rot, not exactly peak condition.
Alexander Long
But the most significant strides in human history were made when humans abandoned morals
Morality is a way for social animals to quickly expunge behavior damaging to the group. Faora has her own morality, otherwise she wouldn't respect Zod's command structure. Dumb idea, dumb line.
Cameron Stewart
She's the product of artificial selection and intentional breeding, what the hell is she talking about? The Kryptonians did away with natural selection, if anything evolution always winning would mean Clark and his offspring would be triumphant over their failed dead planet.
Hudson Butler
evolution doesn't favor the strong it favors whatever manages to breed before dying
Of course Snyder Kryptonians don't know that because they're all genetically engineered freaks cloned from a chimpanzee skull.
>Implying a lot of that wasn't guided by religious morals The issue is thinking that morality is "Always doing the nice thing", in a lot of cultures An Heroing because you done fucked up too hard is the moral thing to do, genocide is the moral thing to do, conquest, slavery, etc. One man's morality is another's evil.
Aiden Lewis
Those guys were plenty Moral (to each other, and their culture). They just conveniently labeled the locals as "immoral primitives, little better than beasts" and "fixed" their corner of the world. Morality has always been subjective this way.
Levi Gomez
>Smashing each other with building doesn’t hurt them so it’s all comes down to hand to hand combat and somehow the farm boy won? Clark overpowered everysingle one of them, the whole point of the Zod fight is that eventually Zod was getting stronger and was nearing the point where he could beat Superman This is the retarded part, i guess that one can say Zod didn't want to kill Jor el for the first few blows but is still retarded.
Sebastian Kelly
Faora was bullshiting, she and the rest were literally coded to have morals.
Hudson Sanders
Evolution doesn't always win, mass extinctions happen all the time.
Game theory shows that malicious actors only win when there's a lot of them (or approximately something like that, see video youtube.com/watch?v=38hI_E33vq4 )
On games like social games where there are repeated interactions, fairness (or tit-for-tat) is the most beneficial strategy.
Out of "fairness" we get morality. Now, not all morality is equal (cutting off a thief's hand is definitely lose-lose, while rehabilitating a thief is win-win) but the innate sense of fairness is an evolutionary advantage and you can see it in many social animals (see video youtube.com/watch?v=-KSryJXDpZo )
Having no morality is only advantageous in short-term relationships.
>world-shattering punches and kicks being thrown >inside a fucking IHOP Corporate synergy was a mistake
Brody Campbell
>Consider that people with morals defeated them. The US military maintains an apocalyptic arsenal for the express use of obliterating it's own species, and Clark literally has to go knocking on other people's church doors to borrow a cup of moral certitude. So no.
Superman having a sense of morality made the other heroes willing to revive him bitch doesn't understand social evolution and group living
Cameron Reyes
The whole point of the movie is that she doesn't
Charles Lewis
>Corporate synergy was a mistake Why do you think Snyder kept getting jobs? almost half of BvS budget came from product placement (50 millions alone in the turkish airlines scene), and he secured the Mercedez and guillete deals for JL. Snyder and his wife were making 200 million dollar movies and putting 100 million in the bank of WB before the movies were filmed
