I can only assume from this that nandroids learn about human social interactions by watching tons of soap operas and "reality TV" shows. This seems unwise.

Nandroids being hopeless gossips makes an odd sort of sense, actually. They're designed to interact closely with humans, particularly young, impressionable ones, so they're going to keen students of human psychology. They're also programmed to assist other robots if they're having problems carrying out their duties, so they would regard gossiping about human behavior they've seen as a way of helping each other with their psychological studies.

Tbh when I saw the 'My Fair Lady' bit I reread the beginning to see if they were all talking about movies before I read the punchline. It would have been super cute if the nandroids were so well behaved that they gossiped about movies as if they were real.
