DCEU

What should they have done differently?

>Man of Steel
>Batman
>Wonder Woman
>Aquaman
>Justice League

If they had followed a similar structure to Marvel, how different would their films be received?

Fuck Marvel, just do an adaption of the DCAU. That is it.

Make the same movies but better.

Hired Loeb instead of Johns, Goyer and Berlanti

Reign in Snyder’s edgelord bullshit by 40 % following Man Of Steel, the rest would be a butterfly effect from there.

Not hire a Randian nut to adapt the most ideological character of all time. That would've been a good start.

Fired Snyder after BvS and started over

I liked what they had, they just needed to do it better with the whole Superman going evil thing.

The point was that they were 6 years behind Marvel, they couldn't wait to do Justice League when the MCU was doing Civil War and Infinity War.
Now i'm not a movie executive, but if i had the deck stacked against me like this, i would have done The Suicide Squad first, because it's not something Disney would do, then follow it with Shazam and Wonder Woman.

This. We don't need a massive on-screen universe, we need good stories. Connecting the films together is a novel idea but it'd be better if they just made good movies with occasional references to each other. We need:

>Batman film where the focus is the mystery, see him doing detective shit. Nice twist at the end.
>Superman film with an optimistic attitude like the Donner films, but power level is akin to the animated series.
>Literally Wonder Woman is doing fine, just swap out the main actress
>Green Lantern film with Jon Stewart in deep space. Maybe even put Lobo in there
>Flash film with a better actor, not convoluted with multiverse shit. Maybe some light time travel.

Have a Superman trilogy, that way we could have a natural progression from MoS Superman to a more classic sups, with the final movie being about him meeting a retired batman and maybe wonder woman, and together they decide to form the league, then we get the individual movies for each hero with an ongoing build to the justice league movie.

I agree they should have done shit the MCU wouldn't do first (Wonder Woman, Suicide Squad), but the big problem was that they didn't have someone with a clear vision.

The structure was never the problem. It's just an excuse. If the quality of the movies was better then it would have been successful

Make some good conclusive films. If successful, make a couple of sequels opening some plots for a future big reunion movie.

Ultimately it was all down to weak scripts and a director that didn't care as long as it looked "for grownups". It's easy to suggest doing it like Marvel but at the end of the day they could've done whatever they wanted, really. You wanna introduce Batman in what's essentially a Superman sequel? Sure, whatever, just do it properly. They didn't

Like seriously, every bts discussion about MoS and BvS just showed little understanding of what exactly they were doing, like they were literally improvising. We've been told it was Snyder's idea to get Zod killed and that he and Terrio had to convince Nolan to let them do it during production - well, it shows, because the script basically has fuckall to do with Supes killing anyone, his morality towards it is never brought up and the "trauma" lasts the whole lot of two seconds before it's back to making out with Lois, pretending to be a goofy journalist and threatening the US government by smashing satellites in their faces. We were told about BvS
>oh, we had X work on the script... and then we brought in award winning Terrio to work on the script... and also look at that wacky Affleck, he's working on the script while filming his own scenes in costume too! Also Zack just auditioned a guy he needed for a silly Jimmy Olsen cameo and decided he's actually our main villain, what a twist!
And while that was effective to hype the brainlets clearly it didn't amount to shit. Everyone so busy acting like an auteur they forgot they had to actually pull it off. And now you have d-list actors trying to sue WB or whatever because Snyder made them think they were going to be part of the capeshit equivalent of Casablanca. Fucking Gadot went on to "represent womanhood" at the UN before there even was a WW movie supposedly showing her as a good role model or whatever nonsense. Eh, I'm just ranting at this point. Crux of the matter is just make good movies, whatever formula you decide to implement on the way

Maybe you should not fucked Suprerman over next time

If anything, the biggest mistake was starting off with Superman. If he flopped after they made a DCEU Batman movie, it's not as big a deal, since it's just where we are right now with a bunch of Batmans and Superman is just under the rug somewhere. They just had to use him first because Nolan just made a Batman movie, which was sucky but made like a 1B.

Martian Manhunter movie

Weren't they forced to get MoS out of the way as to avoid letting the Superman movie rights expire? I vaguely remember this is a thing but i can't find confirmation online right now

World's Finest instead of Batman v Superman, Wonder Woman solo movie based on an appearance in WF, Justice League based on Legends and introducing the other characters.

>Maybe some light time travel.
Maybe just, as weird as this might be, an adaptation of that two episode thing from the CW Flash show back in season 1 when he first time traveled. Weather Wizard'd make for a good solo origin type villain if they don't wanna use Snart for whatever reason.

It's very possible. I don't remember. I remember hearing something about that but I don't know if it had to do with movies, but it very well could've been.

Live action film series with the look and tone of Brave and the Bold.

They should have choose a tone and kept it.
Because MoS and BvS had one tone, next movies were so different on tone and plot that they didn't feel in the same universe as the Snyderverse

Pulls a Spider-Man Far From Home and makes everything connected.
Batman's villains were inspired by Flash's ones.
Superman villains are Green Lantern's rejected villains.
Wonder Woman's villains are Shazam's villains.

Except they could have. There was absolutely no need to try and play catch-up.

>Green Lantern
>not Hal

No

I'm just glad we managed to get something as cool and introspective as BvS. I don't care why, how, and even what they do next. I had that and that's what counts.
