Pretty much this, I think a lot of the hatred of Flashpoint came from the fact that it was shoehorned into being the impetus for the Nu52 reboot.
Granted, even if it wasn't Flashpoint would have only just been okay at best. A lot of its best ideas (Thomas Wayne is Batman, Cyborg is the #1 hero, etc) ended up being nothing but schlock and edginess
