Anyone from Zig Forums enjoy The Maxx? My dad would and still does watch it drunk late in the early mornings whenever he gets a chance.

Got a vhs copy of it somewhere, your dad's got the right idea, watching at the odd hours with a drink is definitely the best way to go.

I read this comic, I watched the show, and I cannot for the life of me remember what the fuck it's about

I love it. Can confirm that watching it at odd hours is best. After watching it a second time I read the comic, which is also great. First half is pretty close to the show with a few differences, second half is new and was never animated.

Agreed honestly, watched it with him yesterday the MTV Series, he had a bootleg DVD my mom had bought him from ebay back in 2002 I think, lmao.
Simply its this, also nice trips man.

Agreed man, I gotta read the 2nd half, I made this thread also because I drew The Maxx for him, pic related.

>Why is it that men in their 40's-50's love Image comics?
It's because they were raised on Marvel and DC, the shining heroes of old and beacons that they aspired to become when they were older.
Then comes their mid 20's, where they can relate to the gritty, realistic, troubled antiheroes, so they gravitate towards Spawn, Youngbloods, and The Maxx. Just take it from me, my dad loved DC, until he was in his 20's and in the military, where he became a fan of Spawn. He still has over 50 of the original and newer figures and statues, hung up in the garage.

watched it when it aired late nights on MTV, the animation would go between incredibly crude to fucking based and then back again, gave me whiplash

I'll admit I kept watching for Julie.

Superb taste

Cool drawing user. That video is good, but I wish somebody would also put the show's opening on Youtube. I have to go to vimeo when I feel like watching it and can't embed it in Zig Forums threads.

Oh yeah, I personally been enjoying early 2000's comics like marvel knights and whatnot, gotta get into older 90's comics like Spawn. Dad actually wants to watch that too soon, hopefully time allows it.
Based, yet great tastes.
Thank you, and dude I getya man, the Watchmen intro I have to watch on Vimeo sometimes, been planning to get a HQ Sound rip and the Vimeo video for a stitched up hybrid. Also did a Frank Miller one for his coworker, good guy honestly.
Genuinely one of my favorites moments from the series.

It's a Viacom property, so it's probably blocked to high hell on youtube. Used to be you could watch the whole show on there.

>DVD
Doesn't that cut out and rearrange certain sequences from the episode broadcasts? I think maybe even a whole episode was cut.

About the DVD Part, yeah actually, my dad told me it was missing scenes and a recap/behind the scenes/retrospective from Sam Keith and the animators on the series. We bought the series on Amazon Prime Video, well worth it.

I watched it back on teletoon in the day, thought it was weird as all hell but I liked it, haven't watched it since. Downloaded the comics a week or two back too, don't rightly know when I'm going to get to them as there are a few other's I want to read first, but I at least have them for when I do.

Hope you enjoy them, user, I personally did.

I always thought the Maxx looked like a whale.

ngl i can see it too

Never read it, probably because it's never been published in my country for some reason. It's kinda strange since a lot of Image's 90's lineup was brought over there (Spawn, WildC.A.T.s, Youngblood, Cyberforce, Wetworks, The Darkness, and even fucking Weapon Zero). Definitely on my to-read list though.

>go looking for a mega of the episodes on Desu
>find only one and it's a low-bandwidth shitty AVI encode cut into 4 parts
>probably the DVD version anyway

sad

Reminder that you literally cannot buy this anywhere. Nobody is selling the first volume on Amazon or eBay.
I don't know why it be like this

My dad made a drawing of this character fighting Magneto back in the 90's. Probably one of the first things that got me into art myself. Love my old man's works.

What scenes are cut on the DVD?

I only watched through it a few months ago. I was a little confused, thinking it'd be more action-y, but overall I liked it, despite seemingly everyone being related.

I was vaguely aware of it for a long time but misunderstood it as being about an action chick and her demon sidekick. if I had of known it was about the psychology of trauma and codependent relationships I'd have checked it out way sooner.

always had a vague memory of it on mtv in the '90s, but am watching it for the first time lately and enjoying it a lot more than i would have thought

curious about this too

You could just buy it digitally.

IT WAS A GOOD SHOW
this but unironically

Reminder that Lauren Faust animated Julie

I've wanted to buy the comic for ages but can't find it anywhere

Same. Saw the show, was intrigued, started reading the comic, stopped at some point and never started again. Last I remember is a phonebooth near a motel's public pool or something, can't for the life of me remember much else.

comics great until.the timeskip when it starts to become retarded and finishes in the most anti-climactic way possible.

honestly never watched the show though my sisted loved it. refused to read the comics it was based on though.

for as much as people bitched and made fun of image, I'd rather take Rib Liefeld bullshit over this aids ridden shit any day of the week.
