Haven't gotten around to watch it myself yet, but it's a prequel to the comics. There's an animated spinoff/sidestory thing in the works as well, but I haven't heard anything new about that for a while.

Unfortunately, the guy that bought the boxset never returned with extracted subs, but apparently the VRV dub is pretty good.

Yeah, you gotta. It's fucking great. Beautiful animation, great comedy, and a very exciting story. I enjoyed myself alot. Kinda bummed that the episodes only were 11 minutes a piece, but it was still a hell of a ride.

Yeah, the show is a pretty full story, you could skip the comics completely if you wanted

That's the spinoff/sidestory thing, no? I mean, the cartoon ends the moment the comic begins, so how would they even pull off a second season unless it's a sidestory.

The Cartoon happens few years before the comic starts.

The english dub is actually really good, as long as you get the VRV one. The other dub is trash.

It's not impossible someone extracted official subs and posted them in some obscure corner of the internet the rest of us has never heard of. Or maybe the drunk subs are just better than I'm giving them credit for. I'm just being sceptical, because I was there when they were made.

Yes, yes, yes, yes, yes. This show has the absolute most brilliant long game ever fucking done by a villain in a cartoon, outside of maybe anime.

Yes it is and don't worry about having to read the comic first. The tv show is a prequel which really helps to explain the comics.

How does one extract subs. I have the box set AND a bluray drive?

Honestly, I have no idea.
MKVToolnix or Handbrake might be able to do the trick, but I'd wait and hope some other user will chime in, before jumping face first into anything. Lastman threads (used to) often have at least one guy stopping by that actually knows something about encoding.

Fair enough. I have the goods, I just have no idea what the process is. I'm about to hit the gym for a while, but I'll lurk this thread for a while and maybe do a bit more research on my own.

Good times. Work suddenly got really crazy shortly afterwords, and by the time I had the freedom to try and figure it out the official western release happened. I assumed (incorrectly) that there wasn't a demand for it anymore.
