He's a liar, so it's entirely possible that he does really want to conquer the human world. Although he doesn't really have a need to, since he's already the undisputed ruler of the Burning Isles. Unfortunately, we don't really know enough about Belos to know what he wants, other than the portal.
I think it's linked to the magic potion he drank. There's something on Earth that can 'cure' him, and he wants it before everyone realizes how much weaker he's become. Hell, he might even be cursed. This explains why he was looking for the Blossom of Eternal Youth as well.

Whatever it is, I don't think he was lying when he said he doesn't want to conquer the human world. My current guest is that the voice of the titan he hears is actually some kind of eldritch creature that feeds on magic or something (turning people to stone is part of how it feeds) and that while humans don't have magic sacs something else about them makes the Titan want to feed on it. Weather or not the voice is actually the titan or something else entirely is a separate question altogether.

But WHY does he want to fuse the worlds. In Star's case she wanted to bring everyone together before erasing magic, right? What does this guy have to gain from it?

He want's to do the Dew™... all of it. The meager supply of Dew™ on the Boiling Isles is simply not enough to slake his gamer thirst. The Dew™ is essential to his mad skills and allows him to 360 no scope the n00bs he has to deal with.
