Is living forever really worth it?
Is living forever really worth it?
Only if it's not on Earth.
Fuck yea, you can make new friends/family/lovers. People are expendable tools that are a means to a end. But i will add that immortal isn’t worth it at without regen and time control powers. That why it’s not like “cool I can live forever but I died the next day because a guy tboned me” and you need time controls powers to prevent “cool I can live forever but when the universe ends (or sun explodes if we never leave earth) I’ll be stuck in a mass of darkness until a new universe forms and a habitable planet is seeded by my dna”. With those two additional powers immortality would be the best
Yeah. Outliving the ones you love sucks, but if that was really enough to make your entire existence worth ending nobody would ever get a dog.
Look at the bright side, you get to fuck their descendants
I mean, would be able to forget ot just accept your memories such as friendship or even family if you live that long and keep seeking new experiences. If anything an inmortal would became a cynic person and see the rest of humanity as mortals.
Just like they portray the gods.
You could, over time, find new friends and loved ones, and with your additional time know more personal bonds than any mortal could know.
As opposed to not having it, where you still have the possibility of outliving everyone you care about and then dying anyway.
Ultimately, however, the heat death of the universe is going to suck. Might not be too different from death, depending on what awaits us on the other side, though.
AB-solutely
When I go to sleep and I wake up. I'm still me. No matter how long your life you can't be more than yourself can you?
Even if there is an afterlife it'd be the same as if you're immortal on earth. So it's not worth it as well as not-not worth it. It just doesn't matter.
every one talks about death when discussing immortality but nobody considers just how awful being old is. you lose your mind, your physical fortitude, your friends. That scenario in the OP will absolutely play out, you'll just feel like shit doing it.
I wish to an hero myself everyday why would i ever consider eternal life?
I’ll get to live along side my grandkids and their kids and so on so while i’ll miss my loved ones who have passed i’ll get to live with new loved ones. Seems pretty cool to me.
You can’t be old if you’re I’m portal because being old is literally a symptom of your body slowing dying over time. As an immortal you don’t die and therefore you don’t grow old.
Only if everyone else gets to. Either everyone lives forever, or no one does.
Otherwise it's just infinite tragedy and eternal loneliness.
Hell yeah
I guess it beats dying and experiencing nothingness for eternity. But then I guess what happens when the earth is inevitably destroyed by the sun? So I just float around in the void of space experiencing immense pain for all eternity but never dying?
Man, I wanted to link a weird video from youtube which showed an immortal Santa Claus wandering the burnt out remains of earth and then floating through space for all eternity until the last stars wink out, but now I can't find it.
It would have been perfect, and now I'm frustrated.
Kill yourself then you pathetic bitch instead making pussy ass cries for help. No one care about you, your life is worthless. Kill yourself you sorry sack of shit
There's literally nothing wrong with asking for help user. It's how a man gets stuff done.
Jesus will come back before anything like that would happen.
I mean, that's why after being alive for a hundred thousand years you've gotta spend a million years mastering all knowledge so you can, at the end of time, use your immortal body as the catalyst to create a new universe.
This is pretty basic stuff bro.
Depends on if the enviroment and if one's body, spirit, and brain can handle the weight of eternity
>Implying I didn't ditch Earth thousands of years ago
>Implying I'm not part of the civilisation that taps into the radiation of all those black holes that pop up after the death of all the stars to run ultra-slow, ultra-efficient simulated realms full of billions of uploaded humans
Nothing lasts "forever". What you want is to be in good shape until you die and to be able to pick the time of death yourself.
An "afterlife" isn't a good idea either. Whether it's standing on clouds or immersed in lava, boredom and ennui are inevitable. Maybe a mathematician could always find something new and interesting; the rest of us would long for closure after the trillionth apple pie or sex act.
Why the fuck would i need your "help" faggot?
Only if you find a way to traverse space in case the earth is destroyed.
Just don't love anyone bro.
It's probably easier if you just know how to make new friends
If there are still living beings around, yes. You only need a purpose.
I think this was Marvels Elders of the Universe approach. Their profession made them immortal and it was their motivation to be immortal.
