How are they going to retcon that Magneto is Scarlet Witch's father?
How are they going to retcon that Magneto is Scarlet Witch's father?
They’re not related anymore in comic canon
something something "no more mutants"
Thanks Ike
Magneto being her father was a retcon in the first place.
Something something Chaos Magic, ain't got to explain shit.
Personally I hope we dont even see Magneto in the MCU. There are tons of other X-Men baddies can have the spotlight. Mr Sinister, Mojo, Arcade, Sauron, Proteus. We dont need to see Magneto as the bad guy for the sixth time.
>How are they going to retcon that Magneto is Scarlet Witch's father?
They don't have to, because mutants don't exist in the MCU. And even if perchance they decide to have them in anyway, there's still no reason to have Wanda and Erik related. Especially since both of her parents were killed in Sokovia and she got her powers from the Mind Stone.
"I cucked your dad"
Boom easy
Everything probably is gonna get all sorts of fucked up after Multiverse of Madness
This. They need to do the same as MCU Spider-Man, and adapt villains we've never seen in live action before. Magneto appeared in all 7 Fox X-Men movies, plus a cameo in The Wolverine, nobody needs to see him again already in the MCU when they could do something different for once.
>Sam Raimi's Multiverse of Madness happens
>Dr. Strange has to deal with strange cosmic horrors, even runs into Ash fighting Deadites
>holes ripped and re-sewn between realities
>Mutants are now part of the MCU because "muh space time reality warping" bullshit Dr. Strange does in the movie etc.
>movie post-credits scene is Deadpool falling out of a portal into a dumpster and using the PG-13 rating single-allotted 'fuck'
here's your phase 4
>FOX merger allows Raimi to use their IP's universes
>reveal that mutants were erased from reality by Wanda and the moment she said "no more mutants" was placed out of time
>travel to that exact moment
>Lionel Hutz changes it to "No! more mutants!" with a sharpie
They might in the comics, but they are more likely to kill Wanda off (as Hickman clearly hinted) as no one at Marvel wants to write her.
In the MCU they probably won't as it would be very contrived and Olsen may well have left by the time we see MCU Mags.
Magneto won't be the father. He has a aughter already, but if they want to make a new Magneto then that Magneto will be his son
Agreed, give us Sinister. They referenced him in Deadpool and New Mutants, but the man himself never showed up. Besides, campy fabulous gay man would probably explode with popularity.
I think the only thing they will add on top of the mind stone is Chaos Magic (which Feige lampshaded) and Chthon, because that is still relatively simple and can fit (and can explain Vision being in WandaVision; he's a soul shard).
They could go for Magneto not being the biological father and instead make him a surrogate one, which is arguably a far more interesting angle.
goddamn 5 star post user
>using hateful stereotypes to harm the LGBTQASEA community 10 reasons why Sinister is problematic
I don't want Sinister
MCU Magneto will surely be black, probably a survivor of the Rwandan genocide since the Holocaust was so long ago. I don't think Magneto will be her father in the MCU.
>>movie post-credits scene is Deadpool falling out of a portal into a dumpster and using the PG-13 rating single-allotted 'fuck'
I love the idea of this gag. Somehow I don't think Disney can execute it well.
i'm sure they could easily toss some time travel bullshit into bringing the cast of the most recent X-Men films into the MCU
For now
Literally the only good thing about that retcon is that it provides a ready-made answer when people say, well, she has to be his daughter in the MCU now.
With multiverse shenanigans it might happen anyway (though since they're already probably bringing in her alternate-reality kids, I doubt they'll add Magneto in on top of that), but at least more people now understand that it doesn't got to be that way.
No, all of the ideas and theories and even jokes like this, about how to reduce Wanda to a plot device for introducing mutants to the MCU are just tiresome.
Why are people obsessed with keeping the Fox cast? Disney didn't do this with Spider-Man, they won't be doing it with X-Men either, especially after their last movie bombed.
By never mentioning it
Just establish that she and Pietro were adopted and that Hydra merely unlocked dormant X genes during their experiments.
Wanda and Pietro were always Magneto's kids, Wanda just used her powers and made it so that they were no longer biologically related to him. Sort of like the Wiccan and Speed situation.
End Endgame time travel technology messed up stuff in the quantum realm which suddenly makes mutations happen all around the world.
As a side effect, Scarlet Witch starts to appear strange and she can't control her powers, and then she suddenly explodes in magical energy and creates House of M where Magneto is her father.
After some shenanigans the world is restored into a new universe where mutants have already existed, Magneto is her father and nobody knows that things used to be different.
...except Dr. Doom...
Would Clint have tea with Wanda in this scenario?
Magneto would work better as a one off. Cast some reliable old thespian or character actor to play him with his classic Holocaust backstory. Establish through flashbacks that he was experimented on in the camps by Hydra scientists which unlocked his X gene. At the climax of the movie you have him die in a way which makes him a martyr to Mutants world wide.
If they really wanted to keep him around while bypassing the obvious age issue, they could introduce the existence of a cloned body that rogue scientists place his consciousness into. Thus you could have a 40 year old Magneto with all the baggage of a 90 year old Magneto.
Benis, stop. Just stop.
This. Originally they weren't his kids. Then they were. Then they weren't.

Actually, this isn't a bad idea.
They are waiting for Wandavision, they last chance to make Wanda interesting without Magneto, if that fail then expect a re-re-retcon in comics.
In the MCU you can say that the stupid gem unlocked their mutant powers.
Current Magneto is a clone of original Magneto
That's gay.
NO.
MORE.
PARENTS.
And it's and also insulting to previous stories
