What a pussy

lol told you fags that The Boys is just edgy try hard shit

The boys is basically training day. It's nothing deep the climax was lame and ending was hackneyed.

Is he wrong though?

No, he’s absolutely correct.

He's right though.

>The boys is basically training day
Sounds like a nice evening read

Yeah, that's true for most of Ennis' comics. A lot of fun for teenage edgelords who've gotten tired of paint by the numbers capeshit, but laughably petty and juvenile to anyone else.
Between pedophile Charles Xavier, the teenage hero team composed entirely of sadistic rapists, it's difficult to take the comic seriously.

They're right. It's 75% mean spirited shock humor that isn't actually funny or with a point, just le subverting super hero tropes that havn't actually been played straight since about the 70s, Ennis at his worst.

The Boys comic is edgelord garbage and terrible satire. The show being decent is a miracle.

He's right about Ennis being an edgelord.

I dont think the comic wants you to take it seriously, its meant to be edgy over the top satire. It astounds me how many autists on Zig Forums think Ennis was trying to be at all serious with the comic.

If anything the constant gore and edge make Wee Hughie all the more based as a straight man.

the show does a marvelous job of cutting away the exess and fat of the comic, like Teenage Kicks and the Gmen stuff. As fun as that crap is, they probably will work it in at some point that isn't 11/10 on the retardo scale

Do you guys honestly think the edge is meant to be taken seriously? It all feels VERY tongue in cheek when reading it.

He said that they had to tone the comic down for tv, not that it was trash

He is right

What is that supposed to mean? I don’t The Boys, but that statement makes no sense.

I see anti-comic fags are in full force today.

People on Crazy Days And Nights seem to think that Ennis' G-Men arc was based on Singer. All past CDAN comments got scrubbed though once they moved to a different comments section

Because capeshit must be taken seriously, right?

Nah, just butthurt capefags.

Meaning its an overrated shit tier book that should be reserved for those in prison.

Ennis’ stuff is great if you’re between the ages of 12-16 and you’re used to regular cape shit and feeling rebellious. Otherwise, yeah it’s not really for adults.

When the joke is still being told 20 issues in, you start to wonder if it's a joke anymore.

If Ennis didn't want his material examined so closely he wouldn't have tried so hard. If anything, pretending The Boys is just dozens of issues of shallow jokes is disrespectful to his thoughts about the comic book industry.

>source material
you mean the garbage that someone tried to upcycle into a tv show?
seriously, why is anyone mad that an adaptation tries to do something good with something so boring

look superheroes are actually edgy killers--how is this different from anything else the author did with literally any other subject

It is, you just have a short attention span, stop looking at your phone

So when are they jumping on Jimmy's Bastards?

The Boys isn't even about superheroes being assholes its about the relationship between Hughie and Butcher. The superhero shit is just windowdressing.
>I always wanted a little brother

well it's not making me laugh.

He's not wrong. Some issues/arcs were decent and the overall idea was great but similar to Kick-Ass it tries way too hard to be shocking and gratuitous to a point it just comes off as dumb.

What kind of boomer shit is this? It never evolves beyond "superheroes be fucked up yo" and none of the villainous heroes have any depth.

What is it we're supposed to be paying more attention to?

the quote is 'putting the comic straight on screen would be unwatchable for anyone outside of prison' and he's right
