I don't think he understood Watchmen. I'm ten minutes in now and he's talking about how the idea that the message of Watchmen is that superheroes are inherently bad. I dunno if I'm alone in this, but to me the idea of Watchmen is that people are flawed and not everything is black and white.

Not liking rorschach is the most beautiful pleb filters I've ever seen.
The part at the end where he isn't a limp dicked weasel is the moment of his ascent.
Everyone else is cowed and willing to live in delusion, all except for Jon and rorschach. They are, without room for speculation, the only two 'good' characters in the book.
The whole point of Dan being pathetic was to really drive it home that most heroes do it to delude themselves. The Comedian's plot tried to hammer it home as well. Fuck, the ending with Vedit.
The entire story culminates around this principle of delusion and denial with the only two characters free of it being greatly changed for their efforts.
