Continued, cause with Venture Bros cancelled Rick and Morty is sort of all we have. Jessica is being retooled, which is great, because when I think of problems with Rick and Morty, I think of Jessica.
Last thread brought up how the writers think Jessica is a problematic character and had some pretty great ideas for fixing her by the fans, like making her trans and making Jerry a trans chaser. I think having Jerry be a trans chaser will really get the message and be good comedic wise. Not only is Jerry pathetic, but there's actually a recurring gag when you consider his voice actor, Chris Parnell, plays Cyrus on Archer and also had an unusual relationship with Lana, a woman who is half man, half baboon!
But what do YOU think should be done to fix Jessica as a problematic character? Obviously, her just being a cute high school girl Morty has a crush on and uses partly as a means to ground himself in his own reality just ain't cutting it.

Remind that towards the end of season 2 roiland and Dan started to hate working for each other, with roiland wanted a fun irreverent sci-fi comedy and Dan wanting to continue being alcoholic sad fuck. Because of this roiland and a head writer for the show distance themselves from the production letting dan takes the reins so they can make their own show based on ideas they couldn’t do in rick and morty because dan was so difficult to work with. And no dan has his own show coming up with Fox that’s he’s been hands off with season 4, letting the new writers take over. So season 3 was shit because no roiland and season 4 shit and inconsistent because no oversite. Adult swim is regretting giving them that 70 episode order because it’s obvious they only used rick and morty as a jump pad to better things and it wasn’t meant to last. Going forward it’s gonna be mostly the writing staff left to their devices with a unofficially appointed “head” with dan popping in every now and then between his other shows production to give drunken notes. And roiland has completely stepped back from the writing and is only doing voice work for the show now (ala Seth macfarlen). Going forward you can expect more of season 4 levels on inconsistent quality until it eventually ends on a wet fart for the audience with some cliche remark about meta humor. The show is effectively dead and in zombie status after 7 years, 4 seasons, 36 episodes.
Dan is also making a new animated comedy (Rick and Mitty art style) for amazon plus

I haven't checked that board to see if people wanted to talk more in good faith about Rick and Morty but felt like last thread was really productive, like the dialogue we had with the self admitted "SJW Writer", who felt that maybe Rick should scan Jessica to reveal she's a hermaphrodite. That really seems like a great idea!
Now here's my own pitch -- what if we had a joke at the expense of, say, Donald Trump, or some other right leaning political figures? You know, Rick and Morty is High Sci Fi but a bit of contemporary joshing should make the show funny and relatable. The target audience for Rick and Morty is somewhat left wing, right?
Anyways, we got to start somewhere. Tammy wasn't that great of a character in hindsight, if she had a penis I think she would have been a more interesting character

Yeah, nah. It's been dead to me since season 3. This constant Beth and Jerry shit was old in season 1, and now it feels like they're cramming more Jerry down our throats out of spite while doing nothing to make the character interesting or likeable.
Trischa "I want to fuck your dad" Lange suddenly getting hot for the beekeeping outfit won't be enough to change this shitty family dynamic the show is trapped in. At the end of the day it all falls back into the same status quo bullshit so we can have a season 20.
I prefer my arcs with endings, thank you. Rick and Morty has all the plot divergence of the Simpsons.
