They basically made him the Meg Griffin of Futurama, minus the sex appeal

The main reason everyone dislikes Zoidberg is because he smells like garbage all the time, you can't smell it because your TV is old and cheap

It became too much, it just felt like borderline abuse, the poor guy doesn't do anything, yet everyone feels the need to shit on him regardless.

He actually get treated better near the end. And even has two episodes focused on him, one of them even retcon him as an actual good doctor (he know a lot about different alien biology, just not the human one).

Adult Swim era Futurama had an issue with Flanderization and generally leaning to much on what were supposed to be rare or one-off jokes.
Frankly I'm surprised we still have idiots asking for more Futurama, because realistically it's just going to go the Simpsons route if they try to force any more episodes out. Hell, the Futurama/Simpsons crossover was bad as is.

It's like people convinced they had to hate the later seasons, no matter the amount of good episodes it did. It's like they rewrite reality to keep convincing themselves that it was bad.

I totally agree. You can feel the writers running out of ideas as early as Beast with a Billion Back in my opinion. In all of the comedy central seasons, we got maybe 12 good episodes. If those seasons didn't get so bloated and were only the ~1 season of good episodes buried within them it would have been fantastic. Sadly, this wasn't the case and we have to deal with 4 more battle of the sexes episodes or whatever.

The Zoidberg abuse really annoyed me when they had that episode where Hermes started replacing his body with robot parts and they used the fact Hermes was being less abusive towards Zoidberg as a sign he losing his humanity.
And at the end when Zoidberg saves him Hermes still insults him.

I'm pretty sure of the dozen or so manwich jokes Futurama did, only 2 of them were pre-Comedy Central. Also as alluded to Scruffy was used a lot more than he probably should have been in the post-Comedy Central seasons.

and as much as people might be critical of the over-use of Scruffy. His scene with Bucket in Prisoners of Benda was 1100% worth it.
