Ain't even hard. Make a superman movie but with Hawkman subbed in and all of the feats tuned down to his level. You get all the fun of aliens, flight, and things getting smashed without the baggage of "There's no tension in Superman movies" or "He's too pure/not pure enough."

I tried reading The Trial of Galactus but it started out with Reed impressing Sue with a fake Christmas tree and it was so boring I had to quit before the story got to the good stuff.

But he's right, to an extent. Trying to "update" the character clearly isn't working, so just stop doing so.

Kind of strange hearing him say that as he's someone I would consider good at updating characters. Also he brought in Angel for the x men a dude of similar bird swooping tendencies.

Golden Age Hawkman but with the Silver Age Hawks's face and them continuing the retcon patch from Hawkworld where his harness and tech is Thanagarian tech from when they came to Earth at the height of the Egyptian Empire.

This. Play it up like Highlander: The Series, where the guy has history and connections in literally every corner of the world to spur adventures. Shit literally writes itself.
