New Frozen animated short, Once Upon a Snowman, got announced today. It's being released on D+ on October 23.
>The previously untold origins of Olaf, the innocent and insightful, summer-loving snowman who melted hearts in the Academy Award-winning 2013 Disney animated feature, Frozen, and its acclaimed 2019 sequel, are revealed in the all-new Walt Disney Animation Studios animated short, Once Upon a Snowman. >The film follows Olaf’s first steps as he comes to life and searches for his identity in the snowy mountains outside Arendelle.
>they're not continuing the story What's the point of making a huge change in status quo if you're not going to follow through? I want to see Anna doing Queen things, and Elsa doing Ice Jesus things. And most importantly, I want to see them together. I'm glad Frozen is still alive, but come on.
please understand, Elsa and Anna's VAs don't have microphones and can't record lines at home, only Olaf's VA can
Nolan Turner
Have patience, user. It hasn't even been a year since F2's release and this short was in development before that.
Dominic King
Why? Olaf was a throwaway character made for comic relief in the first movie.
Luis Fisher
It's not that I hate Olaf, but Disney seems to be pushing him to be in the limelight more then any other Disney character right now. Even the Genie was toned down compared to this.
Colton Hall
This short was being made before F2 got released. Chances are we got the 20 Olaf short shorts back in April because they already had a pretty good Olaf animation pipeline set in place thanks to this one.
So theoretically, because of F2's messy production, they might have planned this short out fully before they even knew how F2 would end...
Jace Flores
Gad's got a recording studio and Olaf's easy to animate. Gad's been busy doing non-Olaf voiceover work for Disney such as with the upcoming Animal Kingdom series.
Grayson Perry
Nice, thanks. And before anyone complains about no Lopezes, they didn't make the songs for OFA and that short still ended up having very good songs.
Brandon Rogers
I mean, of course. Why do you think it's set before F2?
Henry Lewis
>Chances are we got the 20 Olaf short shorts back in April because they already had a pretty good Olaf animation pipeline set in place thanks to this one. That's precisely what I thought as well, the short shorts exist because of this one and not the other way around. And chances are Gad recording from home was very easy to set up because they were already preparing for that when the lockdown began, in order to continue production on this other short.

Because everything past Frozen 2 will be really fucking lame. Elsa is gone. You can only do "one time when Elsa visited Arendelle" so much.
Elijah Harris
>Because everything past Frozen 2 will be really fucking lame. To you maybe.
Isaac Ward
>Everybody is happy now. inb4 we get mad because this is actually a shitty short and we would much rather see Elsa and Anna.
Logan Gonzalez
>content doesn't even exist >already calling it lame Chill out, man
Oliver Lee
>tfw if the 3GD breaks this scene will be cut in Chinese releases
It just seems strange to have a team splitting their attention by working on a disconnected Frozen prequel while also frantically rushing to finish the billion-dollar movie on time. It’s not like it’s a separate team, these are all the same people trying to do both things at once.
No, I think we can all agree that the Frozen 2 ending fucked everything up. I liked both Elsa and Anna much more at the beginning of the movie. Anna lost her innocent happyness and Elsa lost her dress, braid and angst.
