Kind of lame that neither finn or jake really had anything to do. I can understand after killing Fern that Finn would be more adverse to violence as a solution, but I think they went to far with his pacifist thing. Plus he was wrong. Gumbald couldn't see reason. His nightmare juice stunt almost got PB killed if it wasn't for dumb luck.
The whole 'war what is it good for' angle sort of fits the post-apocalyptic setting but the war never felt like a big deal. Maybe if Gumbald built another mushroom bomb instead of a giant cake mech it would have made more sense thematically.
The GOLB stuff was fine I guess but was really disconnected from everything else. Maybe that could have been the reason Finn didn't want to fight? He finds out about GOLB and is trying to get everyone to stop their petty squabbles an focus on the real existential threat.

I did not expect it to focus on Finn and Jake. The show at this point had long since become about the World of Ooo as a whole rather than those two. So while I was still disappointed in certain aspects, I was still able to appreciate it for what it was. I'm also probably one of the five people who were actually more hype about this one than the Regular Show finale. Say what you want about AT lore, but at least it delved into lore fairly early on. RS was never about that, but last season they suddenly decided they want to be like all the cool kids on the block and that just looked kind of pathetic and shallow.

Too much shit going on, it's like the X-Men Apocalypse of cartoon series finales, the writers thought being epic was the proper way note the series on. What the series finale should have been was a personal small scale adventure with a sense of finality to it, that would hit way harder.

Absolutely awful finale, Golb is the shittiest villain with literally no personality
Gumbald just got braingoo'd and he wasn't interesting in the first place, like painfully boring character
BMO not remembering Finn's name is just depressing
They didn't show enough of those future characters to justify their existence.

Ice King turning into Simon is stupid, Simon is a nothing character that only got less interesting the more they showed of him.
Gunter turning into Ice Thing is a shitty way to make up for the previous problem.
Way too serious of a finale for Adventure Time
In a show thats best characteristic is its wide cast of interesting characters, almost none of them get to be fun or interesting. Gumbald collects a bunch of older villains and they do FUCKING NOTHING. You have all of the candy kingdom and gumball guardians, and no one, absolutely no one, not even the main cast get the chance to make a single joke
And let me reiterate, there is not a single good joke in the finale, there's barely anything that seems to be an attempt at a joke at all

Appropriate. It didn't try to be anything other than what the series demanded. It's obvious that it suffered from being given the Network Television ax but it still worked with that. I wish I held animation to any sort of high standard that this would count as a disappointment, but the industry has some conditional limitations and the best you can hope for is something creative and fun. 8/10

I didn't think it was a bad ending at all. It could've gone off forever. The ending was supposed to signify this. Adventure Time never truly ends, there will always be more heroes and adventures to have.

The Big Bad wasn't spectacular like you wanted /hyped it up to be? He's just another everyday obstacle, like the king of vampires or whoever else. Shit likes this gets sorted out on a regular basis in Adventure Time.

Was it the fact that you projected unto Finn heavily and felt like he was given a shit deal? What about that other hero character? With the missing hand? Do you think her end was a good hero's end? These meteor heroes only seem to exist to combat the other meteor, the Lich. That's their goal. Everything else is just filler, as far as their existence goes.

Would you have rather that it went on indefinitely like The Simpsons?

Remember the false leaks in these threads where it was supposed to be a huge emmy bait episode with all the side and recurring characters getting killed in battle.

Finn and Jake basically being spectators to other characters doing more interesting things was the worst sin of it IMO. Also not a fan of "Singing defeats the evil thing". I was pretty damn disappointed honeslty.

No fuck you, they had even more of a heads up than the RS crew did and they still fucked around with shit like Tree Trunks whore alien facism and Jake having alien daddy issues instead of actually doing the god damn end of story. This is exactly all the shit they wanted to do, more time wouldn't have done anything but made more shitty parts. Same shit for Samurai Jack's finale, more episodes wouldn't have helped, he made the finale how he wanted and more episodes would have just meandered.

I would have been fine with it if they didn't do it just to shit on him. He clearly didn't want to be Simon without Betty, so what did they do? Turn him back into Simon but Betty is gone and he's eternally searching for her.

They screwed over the characters I liked in favor of propping up and giving time to characters I didn't.

No it isn't, they should have just left him Ice King, when he didn't realize he was suffering, instead of making him sane but suffering forever without his lover. They played up Betty's sadness for losing Simon so hard they made her an absolute cunt but still tried to play it sympathetically, why is it fine to end Ice King even worse off than he was by making him Simon and alone desperately trying to get her back until he dies? It's fucking ridiculous, it's like they went out of their way to put the male characters worse than they started, and Simon/IK got hit the hardest because of his kidnapping princesses shit from 10 years ago, with Finn close behind for SAVING them and crushing on a couple.

Marceline's Dad fixes betty in the comics. I don't think they are canon though
