What was keeping Steven from getting some cash and fucking off to Empire City for a week or two? It's not like the gems had to stay together all the time, Rose got to have pet lions and nobody even noticed anything.

What's worse is that he has been forced to hang out with Connie more then everyone else now, the one who emotionally abused him the most.

It’s not like his actions never caused them harm either, and they are the ones busy acting as Heracles and banishing the primeval chaos in the form of unkillable monsters and unnatural disasters.

That’s just his birthright, and what his version of Earth is like. The problem is he shoved his feelings down to expedite the hug/make up stage. He never really had a talk about the times he felt hurt with the person who did it. Something that only Peridot really remembered.

Although for the record Lapis kind of did the same thing. Bismuth too. It’s easy for Garnet, Amethyst, and Peridot to separate Pink from Steven in their minds because of how distinct Steven is from Rose/a Diamond to them and are aware of how gentle he is, plus Pearl was never afraid of Pink either and is more than a little bit suicidal regardless.
But even if they don’t feel Steven has to answer for Pink’s actions, Bismuth and Lapis should both have some concerns about how much more fucking powerful he really is and how he can cheatcode their free will away if he ever wants to. Again, a chat and voicing of concerns is in order.

Most of the time they are off doing their own things.

They warp all over the world and don’t seem to bother asking where anyone went when they warp back most of the time, especially Garnet who is noted as always going on solo missions, and despite being largely sleepless beings they spend half their time in their rooms doing who knows what. We know Pearl checked up on Steven throughout every night and practiced fencing, and Amethyst “organizes” her “collections”, but we never even saw Garnet’s room. Or Ruby/Sapphire’s rooms. Or any Fusion room aside from Sardonyx’s.

He's in pain because he goes stir-crazy but also feels bound to his duties at home, not because he is being abused.

If we look at all the times he was in danger, eliminate the ones that only happened because of his own actions, random monster attacks that happen worldwide, or being Rose’s son, we’re left with one season each for the B team aside from Bismuth and one single time each from the A team.

We can also disregard the times that what happened saved the world, since the alternative was just him dying.

They gave him the opposite of worthlessness. A lot of his problems begin when he overheard them talking about how much they need him to be ready to fight because of the increasing amount of danger to Earth. Which they can’t be faulted for since they were trying to boost his confidence at the time and he was eavesdropping.

As for negligence, he had a better upbringing than most of us. Plus they’re more his aunts while Amethyst is his literal and figurative big half-sister. Not to mention distancing yourself from people who were unintentionally neglectful as a kid is the polar opposite of what you’re supposed to do.
