>Sixteen-year-old Iduna harbors a dark secret. On the surface, she is an Arendellian village girl, an aspiring inventor, and the best friend of Prince Agnarr, but she is also secretly Northuldra.
>Ever since the day the forest fell, Arendellians have despised and distrusted Northuldra with a vengeance. No matter that the Northuldra—along with some of Arendelle’s own—have been trapped in the Enchanted Forest behind an impenetrable wall of mist since the day of the battle.
>Iduna doesn’t know why the mist refuses to part, or why it descended to begin with. The only clear thing is that she must keep her identity from everyone, even Agnarr. Her life depends on it.
>Fortunately for her, Agnarr doesn’t know that Iduna is the Northuldra girl he saw seemingly flying on a gust of wind all those years ago, the day of the celebration turned disaster. The day Agnarr lost his father, the king. The day Agnarr himself almost died.
>What Agnarr does know is that Iduna is a true ally in the face of his royal responsibilities and the expectations of an overbearing council and a well-meaning regent who will rule in Agnarr’s place until he turns twenty-one and assumes the Arendellian throne.
>As Iduna and Agnarr grow ever closer, however, friendship is no longer enough. If only falling for each other didn’t mean risking their futures: Iduna’s as a hidden-in-plain-sight citizen of Arendelle, and Agnarr’s as imminent king.
>But for a chance at true love, the risk might be worth taking.

Come discuss.

>The Dark Sea
>THE STORM IS GETTING WORSE
>Lightning slashes across an angry black sky, soon followed by the crash of thunder. Waves pound against the ship's hull as I grip the wooden rail with white knuckles. Fierce gusts of wind tug my hair free from its braid, and damp brown strands whip at my face. I don't date let go to brush them away.
>Instead, I keep my eyes on the sea. Looking for her.
>In some ways, I've spent my entire life looking for her. And tonight, my journey may finally come to an end. Unfinished. Unfound.
>Perhaps she never existed at all. Perhaps she was simply a myth. A silly song to lull children to sleep. To make them feel safe and secure in a world that's anything but. Perhaps I was a fool to think we could simply go and seek her out. Learn the mother's secrets.

Based Mari

Huh, so inventor thing user mentioned was true
We might actually get some Oaken on this

Oaken short when?

>referring to Ahtohallan as "her" and "the mother"
We're reaching new levels of mommy issues...

It makes Ahtohallan creepier to me. What the fuck is up with this glacier?

I thought the song already referred to it as "mother"

>This week we’re giving you a sneak peek of the full Dangerous Secrets cover wrap and also a peek into the design inside the actual book!
>Fun fact - there were several different cover concepts pitched before they settled on this one. I got to see a couple of them, but probably not all. (We writers don’t really get a say in the cover creation process!) As many of you probably know, an earlier version of this cover was leaked before it was final which was very similar, but had the adult versions of Iduna and Agnarr instead of the teen ones. The final younger versions of them were illustrated by Grace Lee, who also did the Forest of Shadows cover.
It's cool that they keep the same talent around

Frozen IS family angst at all levels

I'm starting to consider Hans lucky to have avoided that and Kristoff cursed

yeah, but a song is a bit different and uses metaphors, this is just straight up saying THE HOLY ICE MOTHER in normal speech

That's a really nice cover, though I must admit, at first, it fooled me into thinking this was just a novelization of F2

Agnarr did nothing wrong

He trusted Iduna
That's still a pretty big fuck up

Even the official artbook calls it "menacing". It was definitely meant to be creepy.

>Anna was the one obsessed with tracking down every last clue to their mother
>Anna isn't the one called to Ahtohallan, in fact she's completely deaf to its voice
What did they mean by this?

At least we know whom Anna got her naivety from.

It means fuck Anna, she has no powers so she deserves nothing. This is the Elsa Show™ now.

Have another book.

>Olaf has news for Elsa! He has heard of a summer queen from a summer land with summer magic—someone with similar powers as Elsa's, who can control fire and heat. He says her land is trapped in an eternal summer. Olaf thinks it sounds great, but Elsa and Anna think she might be in trouble. Either way, a journey is in order!

Nice, thanks!

It's a nice final cover but it's funny how the design changed almost nothing since its initial listing

Who came first: Marisol or Lola?

That book came out in 2015.

You can make a whole series of shorts based on a man running a small shop in a magical kingdom

They mean that no matter how desperately you want to see your beloved mother's face again, all your hopes and dreams mean nothing if your older sister is gifted with magic. First come, first served. Sisterhood is a competition. Only one of them deserves their mother's love, and they keep it for life. No sharing. It's a very bizarre message for a Disney movie to have.

Thank you very much

Ignoring release dates, based on Elsa's outfit, I'd say Marisol

He was blinded by love, and possibly a Northuldra spell

>Ahtohallan is a womb, a wellspring of access to some collective unconscious - the memories. All is Found says this outright - "There's a mother, full of memory." It's the classical female connection to bodies of water, hence the emphasis on "Elsa being in nature." Is she trying to return, or is it reclaiming her? Elsa is connecting with not just her mother, but the Mother, symbolized by Iduna's apparition. It's either progressive and empowering, or regressive and depressing.
>But why does only Elsa hear the call and not Anna? Who's to say she doesn't? She just follows Elsa and dumbly believes her. For much of F2, Anna isn't really aware of what's going around her, anyway. Anna is trying to remain in the past (with Elsa) instead of moving forward into her adult life (with Kristoff), where Anna can be safe and sound in the anonymity of sisterhood, entangled with Elsa in incestuous stasis. Elsa literally has to die - to sacrifice herself to Ahtohallan - so they can both move on.

>In some ways, I've spent my entire life looking for her. And tonight, my journey may finally come to an end. Unfinished. Unfound.
Ok, so how are they going to spin this around? They won't let a character in a Disney novel have an ending this tragic.
Will she get to see Ahtohallan before dying?
Will her soul be absorbed by it or something?

Villains don't get happy endings.

Iduna is not a villain though

No problem.
