Oh hell yes, a Will Eisner focused Cartoonist Kayfabe. I only got into this channel recently, what are your favorite videos from them?

inb4 that one guy gets here to bitch

jesus christ, are they always this regular with video uploads ?
the Sienkewicz artist edition is really good and i like their takes on comics.

TDKR analysis, and any single issue analysis really, Liefeld interview, Wizard of course, great channel

Yeah pretty much every day. I usually watch them while I’m eating lunch. I’ll read a lot of the comics they talk about first too

I only watch interviews with people I like, all their other content is insufferable

Nah it’s all great

No, it's not, they are annoying hipsters, I just like longform interviews, its like wordballoon but with younger hosts

Lol “hipsters”
are you like 50?

>hipsters
Because they don’t exclusively talk about capeshit? You’re pathetic

Here he is

He could just not respond but he has to bump every thread about them and make sure everyone sees it

I miss the weekly shoots. Especially the ones after interviews. Them talking about what they've learned or reflected upon from doing the videos is probably my favorite part of the channel.
They're doing more than usual, I thin because they haven't had many interviews lately. Usually it's about three or four a week.

With the lockdown they probably just have lots of time to read/draw/talk about comics. Every time Ed shows that stack of pages I’m like damn. I really wanna get on his Patreon but I also know I’m gonna big Red Room when he publishes it as a book

Yeah, it's going to be on my pull. I am thinking about getting on the patreon for a month to check out the EC inspired issue early though.

The Interviews are probably my favorite episodes, with the rick veitch and rob liefeld interviews being in my top 2 and either Jaime Hernandez or Shelly Bond being my third favorite. Rick Veitch has been one of my favorite artists since Ed mentioned in one of the wizard commentaries that he used to melt crayons on his bristol boards to do different coloring effects when he was young. That really stuck with me because I used to do something really similar but in retrospect extremely autistic when I was a kid. I listen to their videos all the time when I draw, it's incredibly motivating. I don't think I'm the best visually, but every once in a while Ed or Jim will like some of my Comic Pages on instagram and that puts the battery in my back to keep on trucking. There was one time early when the channel started where I had to finish a comic I said I'd make for an english class and I just locked myself in my room and listened to the wizard commentaries on repeat, I don't know which one it is but I still have the sound-bite stuck in my head where Ed says "Nah motherfucker, you're drawing the tank treads". I know it's hard to make it in the comic book industry, but I already wrote and drew one full issue by myself, and I feel like I'm learning so much from this channel, either via interview or commentary.

The Ec issue isn't up yet unfortunately, the pages Ed shows off are months ahead of the pages he's currently posting.
I think Ed may have been in New York recently for the Sotheby's Auction, because he posted some videos that looked like they were from the actual auction house, so my guess is they made/have a backlog of commentary videos that they dole out when they can't meet in person.
there's a difference between not being a jobber and being a hipster. Jim is in his Early Forties and still introducing innovative material to the genre, comic books as we know them have been around for basically a century and he's the first person bold enough to do one in blacklight.

That guy bitches in every single thread about this channel. He’s implied he’s some kind of failed cartoonist who’s jealous of the boys

Odds it's Ed stirring up shit for fun? He admitted to finding out about Junji Ito's "Amigara Fault" through Zig Forums

Noah Van Sciver interviews Jim

Really? I don't remember that being mentioned on the video about it. I figured if anyone comes here it would be Tom. Where did he mention it?

I would not be surprised.

I don’t think Ed would use homophobic slurs as much as this guy likes to

Yeah, Right after the intro it's one of the first things he goes into

That was how I first found it too like fifteen years ago. I bet we were in the same threads

I could see him doing it to get into the charade of playing as an internet troll. I don't think he's a bad dude but he's certainly no stranger to vulgarity

Huh. Guess I just wasn't paying attention.

The McFarlane and Liefeld interviews. Liefeld's stories about Alan Moore are insane.

Going to check this out now.

Keep working on your craft user all those hours add up for you to enjoy the fruits of your labor. Most of all have fun.

Can someone please explain what the word 'kayfabe' is meant to be and where it came from?

It's a pro-wrestling term that refers to the wrestlers never breaking character.
