Why have American heroes devolved into cynical caricatures of themselves that have forgotten what the word "HERO" means?
Why have American heroes devolved into cynical caricatures of themselves that have forgotten what the word "HERO" means?
They were not warriors of justice.
You got a lotta balls bitching about Yank heroes when Riders only ever care about beating up the monsters. Don't see none of these fucks even trying to save civvies.
>HERO
Because you can't like something sincerely and unironically these days or people will make fun of you
/m/ what the fuck are you on about now?
Aw jesus not these threads again
Every rider has the primary motivation of saving people. The last one’s entire thing was saving people. The fuck you on about?
As opposed to KR which has devolved into a pure toy commercial trying to sell kids as many collectible gimmicks/transforming belts as allowed?
Riders also share one thing in common with each other. They get their power source from the same origin their enemies get it from. Eg. Showa Riders are cyborgs created by the same terrorist group they oppose.
The last one was willing to lets robots genocide humanity if they felt bullied.
>which has devolved
It always was faggot
Heroes are for children
They understand this in Japan
Americans never grow up and just make heroes dirtier like themselves
It definitely did not start out the same way it is now.
Isn't Ant-Man just Kamen Rider OOO's?
Uhh, excuse me?
He can't keep getting away with it
Heroes are basically for everyone, but it's easier for an adult to enter a childrens domain and enjoy it then it is for a child to enter an adults domain and get the same amount of enjoyment.
this entire "kiddie shit" mentality has only existed for the last 100 to 120 years and is mostly in the anglosphere. the idea that fairy tales were made specifically for children and children alone was a foreign concept back in the medieval age.
It's not just American hero's but people in general.
I blame how the internet has warped everyone's sense of self and views. Everyone's either extremely fake or a huge douche that people put up with because "It's ironic".
This awful behavior is allowed to continue because if you complain about it you're either "stirring the pot" or you're just being a bitch
We somehow went through a phase where you could be open about liking shit that would get you bullied because it became more accepted in society to now everything being largely cynical and brooding because those same people that bullied the nerds want the thing they dismissed to fit their views and moral superiority or else it would be kitty shit. It is shown to work so we just keep getting these dumb Bad ends or a "more realistic" view point in a world that doesn't abide by realism
They think by making the nice clean thing dirty then that makes them mature. It's why we're getting a live action depressing PPG reboot that completely misses the point
No it wasn't. Faiz could get away with barely shilling the power ups to the point that the Blaster Form only appeared a handful of times or the Kaixa Pointer falling from the ceiling. Nowadays entire arcs are built around selling new gimmicks/forms/belts.
Don't make me post batman or spidey merch
It is complicated...
Nigga, Faiz literally has a power-up/toy chucked at his face because Inoue is a hack and couldn't fit it organically in the story.
Are you really gonna defend this shit and say it's better writing than having the toy shilling be part of the story?
Don't lose hope user, there are still true heroes to be found in the west. Believe in them.
That falls into the same category as Kaixa's Gold Smash weapon falling from the ceiling of the Ryusei School. Inoue could get away with that because he didn't care about toys and his story wasn't about promoting stuff auxiliary to what he was doing.
That's not the case with a lot of the 2nd Phase Heisei shows like Drive/Build/Zereo One where it's toy shilling from beginning to end with it contributing nothing. How many fights did they have to have with Gai to showcase the Q2 Thouser belt and weapon?
I mean yeah the writing was shit but the main goal of the hero was arriving to an end where nobody had to die, and he succeeded.
Well, at least until the movie fucks that up. As often KR movies do.
That is unironically one of the funniest and most memorable upgrade scenes of the entire franchise. I can’t remember how Wizard, Drive, Hibiki, Kabuto, Ryuki or Fourze got their final forms, but I sure as hell can remember Faiz.
It’s not meant to be a well done dramatic scene, is Toei forcing another suit in the show and the director choosing to portray it as idiotic as possible out of spite. It’s one of the best interactions between Takumi and Kusaka of the whole show.
Ben Tennyson takes inspiration from both Eastern and Western Hereos, in fact he's the closes thing the US currently has to a Kamen Rider for the last 10+ years.
Really? Because from what I remember the last og Ben became a selfish egotistical brat who helped people because he loved kicking bad guys. Doesn’t really give me KR vibes.
Annnnd...
