No, fans dislike black Garth not because he’s black, it’s because he’s written like a complete beta compared to his previous incarnations, it’s jarring and obviously the Benis dialogue just isn’t helping. His sister’s design is better than his but her character is so one dimensional and yet weirdly all over the place for the sake of conflict because the series itself feels really aimless.
