How come Remy Boydell's comics are mocked on Zig Forums while comics like Megg, Mogg & Owl or Habits are generally well-received?
How come Remy Boydell's comics are mocked on Zig Forums while comics like Megg...
>one is about trans
>the other is about a group of characters, and one of them is just trans.
Gee. I wonder why.
I've read 920London and I wouldn't say it's about being trans, one of the main characters is but it's more about ennui and self-destruction imo.
And it certainly isn't Storytime of Pain tier bad like I see some people say, the art is easy on the eyes and there were some jokes and moods that really landed with me. Not a masterpiece but not bad enough to hate.
Habits gets sent to /trash/ where they made a general that immediately devolved into gay furfaggotry and dick pic posting because surprise: When you congregate a bunch of people that self-describe themselves as relating to a 20-something loser, it turns out they all are awful people for a community and turn it to shit. Same happens to NITWfags.
But MM&O is also about 20-something losers that people relate to and it has threads up all the time.
Remy is more obviously gay/furry
to be fair Boydell didn't write The Pervert
I got a copy too, the art is gorgeous. I've cultivated shrooms before so I really identified with Hana.
MMO isn't up it's own ass
Why should anyone, anywhere, ever care about what Zig Forums likes or dislikes.
Are you baiting? This shit is terrible, it try to push the personal drama of their self inserts you know jackshit about, there is no message, there is no pacing, the endings never solve anything.
I greatly dislike all of them
I don't think a comic with rockstar Nermal or Mindful Self Improvement could be described as having its head up its ass.
It's not that I care exactly it just seems weirdly inconsistent to me.
Nah fampi I like this stuff. It captures a mood that really speaks to me even if it isn't structured as well as it could be.
It does though, it may have funny cameos but at the end of the day all the MC's spend most of the time pontificating about the state of their fucked up lives. MMO has just had Werewolf Jones naked and full mast for the last couple weeks of strips
Thinking about it more I do see what you're talking about. I don't think that being more somber and introspective makes it up its ass though, it's just focused on something different.
Boydell is more serious with light-hearted moments and Hanselmann is more funny with downer moments.
MMO is absurd, Habits is very rarely as wacky except for that time Clem basically browsed /x/ for an incubus and it worked.
>Megg, Mogg & Owl or Habits are generally well-received
MMO is pure trash. I don't even understand why it's so liked in here. It's literally "weed dude lmao" the comic.
So is Remy's stuff. Both of them cater only for losers and trannies.
Remy’s Boydell’s work is like someone walking around aimlessly on an airy parking lot without a destination in mind while also having a shattered and equally nebulous identity. MMO is that crazy guy who does stupid shit at a party off of drugs but gets back together again only to repeatedly do an equivalent thing over again, not because he lacks direction or identity, but because he’s so set in his ways. Both are kind of repetitive but the latter is something that can be funny or mildly entertaining. The other is just like watching a husk crumple into dust.
MM&O doesn't really glorify the experience.
Remy's comics basically feel like an overgrown retard pining back for the days when he could just be a retarded teenage poser doing drugs and clubbing since it was "cool".
MM&O showcases a bunch of broken losers and portrays how the druggie lifestyle is.
i can relate to MM&O due to my experiences 5 months sober off coke, quit smoking pot two days ago
I'd like to meet hanselman. Remy's comics make me want to punch him in his punk face.
The furry agenda has already won.
This is just a way of Zig Forumsping and seething.
>Jessica Rabbit
>furry
It isn't even bait at this point
well we were the board that made /mlp/ and have more furry girls than Zig Forums I think
920London was more 2000s than a goth girl that shops at Hot Topic with a Deviantart account that edits pics of Inuyasha and Naruto so they're emo and goes "RAWR means i love you in dinosaur x3" with a signature so fucking long it eats up your internet connection and takes up half the page while she rps in her comment section causing your scroll bar to shrink to minuscule size.
I didn't get the feeling that Remy was trying to glorify anything, the characters are exactly the way you describe them but I think that's on purpose, they're emotionally fucked up people completely stuck in the past and can't get over the fact that life isn't going according to their gay fantasies.
I've never done drugs so I can't comment on any of that. I'm glad you're getting your life together, though.
At least we're not /k/.
and that's why it's good
The joke went too far over your head
>atlease we aren't one of the best boards on Zig Forums
damn.
Its hard to tell if its glorified or not frankly, he puts a schmaltzy spin on the whole affair and it reeks of begging for pity to me. Its just not my style. Previously I had a year of sobriety but I relapsed. Things are going to be on the up and up though.
/k/ has been dominated by know-nothing nogunz and Zig Forums castoffs for the last couple years, and then the pandemic and riots brought in a slew of newfags. then theres the pajeets that keep doing chinese threads. the board is almost unbearable these days.
Since Zig Forums doesnt care about zines what futaba imageboard derivative must I go to for that discussion, I got my friend into it and now he is learning to make zines.
That's fair. I made this thread asking why people don't like them and you've given me as good a reason as any.
Changing your routines is already hard enough without all that chemically addictive shit, I'll pray for you man.
That's a really good fucking question. Maybe if there isn't one somebody could make their own.
>it's more about ennui and self-destruction
>self-destruction
In other words, it's about being a tranny.
