Mostly daddy issues

Why do you worship this weirdo so much

John K has a lot of drawing and cartoon philosophies that I agree with, find inspiring, or consider very insightful. Too bad admitting to people that you still think he's a great cartooning teacher and historian brings about the same response every time, "Except that he's a literal rapist."

Maybe I'm spoiled and grew up with a father who was very easily able to separate the art from the artist since all his favorite actors and directors were people from the 50's and 70's and he himself was briefly in the industry and he knew that everyone had baggage. I grew up never being phased by someone's personal life when watching their produced work, but everyone now-a-days seems so extreme about it that it's upsetting. I still think The Cosby Show is a great sitcom.

I can see what you mean, I don't think Fat Albert is well liked because of Cosby. In the show "I'm Sorry" Fat Albert gets brought up as problematic because of Cosby. The dad character shows his daughter Fat Albert and she goes into black face doing an impression of him. Thing is, Fat Albert literally features Albert beating up a neo-nazi.

Her and Alex Hirsch can eat shit

John K was a nasty man, but his art isn't so bad. His animation reminds me of Ralph Bakshi.

Twitter was a mistake.

I might respect John K and his opinions more if he were actually able to put together something that doesn't look like hot dog vomit seething with daddy issues.

But until he does that I just see him as an "Idea Guy" with no real ability.

>the millennial "artists" enters the animation industry and produce garbage like this
the two young generations ruined cartoons in 2008

John K's decision to be extremely stylized in his later years isn't because he can't draw.

>lay awake
All this time and I had no idea John K was a hen in a meatsuit.

It's just because he doesn't want to, right?

Drawing becomes really fun once you develop an style or steal an style from several people, mix it all together and calling it yours
Then you don't have to worry on how to do it or what reference are better, you just do it,and because is your style you usually like it,and that's the most important thing

It's because when artists spend decades drawing with precise construction and mastering all art (or cartoon) fundamentals, they like to spend their later years being loosey goosey, a bit more crazy, and weird and wacky.

People don't give Plympton the same, "He can't draw" shit that they do John K and I don't know why. If people wanna say that John's jokes suck or that his characters are uninteresting, at least that'd be more true than resorting to, "He can't draw".

I know this is far fetched, but it’s fun to imagine. (You don’t have to fit all three together, you can just go with two if you want.)

And John will never have a job again

John K is the kind of guy you just don't want to validate in general. Yes, he has lots of great insight into his craft, but his ego is actively detrimental to being able to use that talent for anything constructive. He's too much an asshole to keep any contacts in the industry who still want to work with him, he's too condescending to be an effective teacher, and he's too stubborn to care about whether or not he's making something people actually want to watch. If only he had been knocked down a few pegs early in his career and learned some humility, he could have been one of the biggest forces in western animation. Instead, he's just a guy who made a Nickelodeon cartoon 30 years ago that he got fired off and everything he's done since has just been riding on it.

Current generation is dumb unlike me. I am smart. I know a bunch of really talented Zoomer artists. Like do you think Zoomers can't draw? Based on what, crappy animated shows with a shoe string budget?

John K is not a rapist, he had a questionable relationship with a teenage girl. They call it "grooming" but for fuck's sake yuppie prudes think everything is grooming these days. You couldn't hold a little girl's hand to help her across the street without being labeled a rapist child predator.

What are you talking about? The girl talked about how he molested her and fucked her when she was underage. That's statutory rape. You can like the guys art and his philosophy on art but come on, don't defend grooming and pedophilia. Do some research please.

>People don't give Plympton the same, "He can't draw" shit that they do John K and I don't know why
Because he isn't a loud-mouthed sex-pest who talks a lot of game he can't back up with his creative output? Just a guess.

Ralph Bakshi's art is much more experimental and loose. John's perfectionism and over-reliance on the same subject matter keeps him from being the game-changing cartoonist he always wanted to be.

Dilate

Please don't compare Plympton to fucking John K.

>NOOOOOO YOU'RE NOT ALLOWED TO HAVE AN EGO! YOU CAN ONLY MAKE SELF-DEPRECATING JOKES ABOUT HOW HARD IT IS BEING DEPRESSED ALL THE TIME

Why are people so threatened by a confident loudmouth whose career is in the fucking gutter.
