What do you even do as an artist once you get to that level in your career and then have nothing to follow it up with? A lot of people don’t realize the double edged sword that being a creator or show runner is. There’s not a whole lot of job opportunities for it and also once you go that far up you don’t get to come back down and be a normal animator again. If you can consistently keep making work for yourself Then becoming a show runner one time is a death sentence for your career.

Let's be honest here : Zim was as good as it was because it was entirely directed by Steve Ressel, who actually had some experience in animation ( unlike Jhonen ) Too bad Steve retired after the show got cancelled. Florpus was good, but Steve's absence was noticeable

It is and most of us see the writing on the wall compared to Dana and her team (hopefully I'm wrong about her team and someone there has some self awareness to notice they will get a second season then be cut off) who are gonna have the same set up.
Disney is a corporation and money is the bottom line. The part that gets ignored by them as well is they don't bother to pull away. Take the risk of being black listed JUST from Disney and branch out elsewhere. The only reason people give in to the mouse is because its a guaranteed GOOD pay check but not freedom.
