Does, uh, does the creator of Amphibia think he's making an anime? Hell, I wouldn't even say Amphibia is anime-inspired.

Donald Trump is going to lose the election lol
>Doesn't want to do an online debate because he knows he can't talk over people
Fucking pathetic
Zig Forums industry people are vocal about Zig Forums industry-related stuff on social media all the time. They don't say this shit in interviews, they say it on Twitter. This isn't some Zig Forums opinion thread, this has to do 100% with a cartoon creator's opinions on the animation industry.
Either that or he doesn't want his delusional followers to see the visual of their dying idol.
I hate Matt Braly so much.
>its just so weird
>the action is good but the writing
>theres just no character acting
>its so choppy and cheap looking
name ONE of these things that isnt completely fucking true about anime
>WAAAAH DONT CRITICIZE MY MEDIOCRITY, IM BROWN!
>subconscious xenophobia or racism
Of course they have to make everything about identity politics once again, of course.
I was agreeing with his tweets until the last one. That’s just straight up paranoid.
The industry was fucking OBSESSED with trying to copy the successes of anime in the early 2000's. Teen Titans, Hi Hi Puffy, Jackie Chan Adventures, Xiaolin Showdown, Avatar, Megas XLR. All that pushing with Toonami and then rebranding it as Miguzi. The fuck is Matt talking about?
>If you point out a lot of anime has choppy animation or bad lip flaps, it's because you're xenophobic
blah blah blah, BULLSHIT.
a twitter thread is still a twitter thread, retard
Was thinking of giving Amphibia a chance, not anymore. My streak of not watching cartoons made after 2010 continues.
If you say you're not a fan of ghibli movies because the writing is nonsense, you're a racist
And why is a Zig Forums related opinion not relevant just because you see the little blue bird, exactly?
Always has been.
Makes me think America is full of racists in denial.
I honestly don't care where it came from. Every culture is full of shit but somehow we only see the best of them.
I still don't think Anime can be considered mainstream, with the only exceptions being Naruto and Dragon Ball Z
All cartoons are anime all anime is cartoons
Same medium just a style difference
The Pokemon anime was so mainstream it killed off WBKids.
Theyre just being protective over Matt
Sorry I forgot Pokemon but you are right. Pokemon, Naruto, and Dragon Ball Z are the only anime that can really be called mainstream.
But you're comparing mega hits and weighing it against the general populous as a whole. If you just ask random Joe from Missouri what My Hero Academia is, he's not going to know, but he also probably won't know what Star Vs or Steven Universe is, either. He'll just know Simpsons, Family Guy, Spongebob, etc. That doesn't mean shows like Steven Universe aren't mainstream.
>Was born on November 8
I fucking hope he cried like a bitch when Trump won the election
Kind of feels like he's speaking to very specific CalArts teachers who are old-time Disney artists and hate anime.
>ripped from naruto or dragon ball
Read a comic book you fucking faggot
I don't think Star Vs. is mainstream either.
Anime is like the K-Pop of the animation world, they have a buttload of fans from developing countries but still not really mainstream overall with few exceptions
Can't we go one week without someone in the comic book/animation industry not saying something totally retarded?
Star Vs. was a show made by Disney that ran for four seasons. How is that not mainstream? Disney is the most mainstream thing on the planet.
Probably in the USA. This site started with anime and shit.
Now, 10 years ago I was leaving the anime fandom, so I really don't remember much of Japanese production.
But if you ask me about 90s and 00s it was really big and more mainstream than now.
Take into consideration this. Anime was way cheaper than American animation to TV stations to buy. World TV stations. So a lot of people grew up with that. Then about the 2000 the Japanese producers started to rise the price, so there was no reason to prefer one than the other, except for the quality.
Now, American producers are really influenced by Anime. So we got an improvement.
>americans only hate anime to have an excuse to shit on Japan without looking overtly racist
Holy fuck, he hit the nail on the head
Because cartoons are not mainstream with very few exceptions. You've spent too much time on this board.
>Cartoons are not mainstream
Are you retarded?
How some obscure Marvel character is not mainstream if it's own by Disney
Oh look, another white guy in California trying to stick up for the (insert non-white race here).
Are you?
How often does an american cartoon ever reach top 10 most popular streaming shows on any platform? only when theyre adult cartoons and thats pretty much it? other than that the only cartoons that people care about other than the classic characters are stuff like spongebob, avatar, whatever else normies approve of. Animated FILMS are certainly mainstream but not cartoons, not for a long ass time
Because the instant it goes through the Disney filter, it becomes mainstream. How do you think Guardians of the Galaxy shot up in popularity while characters like Iron Man are able to compete with Batman now-a-days?
>”anime writing sucks”
>”anime characters don’t show real emotion”
>”Anime look cheap as fuck nowadays”
Matt never heard of Miyazaki’s infamous speech “anime was a mistake”. Even a lot of Japanese veterans animators have the same complaints Matt quoted to be “xenophobic”. Anno and Miyazaki said modern anime and animators lack of looking at humans but obsessed with fantasy they suck into. It sounds like it’s happening in Burbank right now.
I hope CG animated series will become a norm for action shows just like Beastars and Land of the Lustrous.
Not really, star vs. is completely irrelevant, i'm kind of shocked you're starting an argument about whether star vs. of all shows is mainstream
The irony is that Japan is extremely xenophobic and racist, especially to other Asians. Hell, him thinking anime=Japan is in itself racist.
Finn and Jake had their own balloon in the Macy's parade, you know. Cartoons aren't obscure. Most pop culture characters are cartoons.
Adventure Time is one of those normie approved cartoons I was talking about, and by the way, your exceptions are proving the rule
You're clearly confusing the term "mainstream" with the term "popular". Star Vs does not have to reach Simpsons levels to NOT be mainstream. It needs to have the backing of a major name brand studio while experiencing a good deal of success and be produced and released through conventional methods. That's why Star Vs. is mainstream while Hazbin Hotel is indie even though Hazbin is fourteen times more popular than Star Vs.
I'm thinking that was most likely because the real Marvel cash cows were licensed to other producers. That was before Disney took over.
If it didn't happen, Spiderman and the Xmen would be the flagship of the brand.
Or Howard the Duck is mainstream?
We can use this *rubs hands jewishly*
