Can anyone explain what this is? Are all these cartoon/anime CGs drawn by black artists? What's their purpose? I don't think it's black washing or something aggressively political but then why are they suddenly drawing and uploading a bunch black version characters of popular series?
#blacktober
It's a way to try and convince studios people want more black characters by having white people draw art of characters that makes them more unattractive.
Just mute the hash tags and words. Worked for me
There's no way this thread ends well, but basically, yeah, it's the reimaginaing of characters as black, with the idea that it doesn't necessarily erase their identity as even with an anime character from japan there are black japanese people who don't get noticed. On some level it's almost an aesthetic choice to have the character that reflects how they look, and the current "blacktober".
The "purpose" is to highlight black artists/cosplayers as, even discounting the recent protests about racial bizniz, anime twitter is apparently pretty openly racist in a way that's different from here because presumably nobody expects anyone here to attack someone directly. For the most part the idea is for black artists to promote themselves, or get promoted by others, while sharing different art styles and content. These sort of hashtags get created often for many groups to build up a community, even though twitter is ultimately shit for artists.
Hilariously enough, there have been some people jumping onto the trend and even pretending to be black.
It mostly blew up from when a couple of months ago or so, people who already did this kind of thing were minding their own business but started getting attacked when their posts got popular, and then people recall how this sort of thing consistently happens when it involves black people trying to cosplay, or even black characters getting whitewashed, a la Pokemon's Nessa or Steven Universe's Garnet and how people casually use it to bait and troll.
Drawings of cartoon characters, but black. Inspiring! The most there is to accomplish drawing black people.
it's just a popular art meme
my favourite was the people insisting nessa was black when she's pretty clearly asian
>What's their purpose?
Getting likes, retweets and followers. Same as pretty much any art hashtag that gets popular
Blacks with already multiple months and their own made up holidays and bullshit dedicated to them disliked the fact October is dedicated to Halloween.
So they decided to try and make the month about them.
This shit is so fucking racist
Then comes Blacksgiving
How the fuck does Finn have the most beautiful hair in animation. Why does it look so much better than characters who are supposed to have their hair out. What shampoo does he use. That scene in vampires where he’s playing damsel in distress is burnt into my memory.
At least the Afro bit could add a shine to it.
I wanna say that black creators should just make their own stuff but I swear that most of the successful black internet artists I've seen do porn instead
>#blacktober
>takes place during spooktober
What did they mean by this?
>I don't think it's black washing
what is then? Try to make black panther or Morales white and see what will happen. Someone woke up a year or two ago and started to think about why there's a lot of "white" characters in media, without thinking what will happen if you change nationality to those characters. New shows nowaday have a more neutral roles of characters, so is easier to change things.
But we already know this is a janny thread, so OP will make sink this thread
No wonder anti-black hate is getting back in style.
Awful. And racist
Nobody outside of Twitter cares about blacktober or even know what the fuck that is. But it won’t stop you from making another outragefag twitter thread. Kill yourself OP
Black people have no culture or willing to care for their own, so they steal and destroy.
A black person told me that, must be true. I think this was a boondock episode too.
Good explanation.
Good response.
Also I've noticed that between stuff like this and that Uzaki-chan fiasco, art twitter is uncreative as fuck and just revolves around redrawing stuff other people made
Isn't October meant to be Hispanic month or some shit? Are they trying to steal from the beaners now?
yeas
Americans
>art twitter is uncreative as fuck
That's pretty damn obvious with that whole Leg Lift art meme or the Sailor Moon one. The SixFanarts one was better but they rarely did anything interesting with like having the characters interact with each other.
Hispanic month is from September 15 - October 15 for some reason.
I wish black people would make more original content that isn't just making white characters from established franchises black or whining about racism. Like, I get it, black people's entire history (in America anyway) has basically been in the shadow of white people's, but I'd just want to see original content that isn't made with white people in mind, as in neither "blackwashing" white characters or trying to send white people a message.
As a black man, I am so sick of hearing how we can change white character's color skin, but we can't go reverse because it's "racist" Fucking SJW bullshit
You could honestly make Morales white, I don't think it'd make much of a difference or even matter to his character. Black Panther obviously not because he's from a stupid african fantasy-tribe and fights KKK villains n shit like that.
>I'd just want to see original content that isn't made with white people in mind, as in neither "blackwashing" white characters or trying to send white people a message.
Most of that type of content gets glossed over in favor of stuff like OP.
You just can't win.
You know white people fight KKK and white supremacists right? Way more than any black person has fought the black panthers or black supremacists.
But turning them black fixes their evil whiteness and makes them into beatiful afro americans who can do no wrong.
>calls OP And outragefag
>does nothing but make an absolutely seething post about OP
how is it possible to lack such basic self awareness?
Can y’all fuck off with this constant Zig Forums shit?
Current trends are suggesting otherwise. ie. "Black men are the white people of black people"
Only when you stop saying "y'all", you fucking racist.
I guess? But aren't Black Panthers villains like 90% white supremacists and kkk members or something stupidly specific like that?
cant let the latins have a month without shoehorning blacks into it
>Souther tells people to stop Zig Forumsshit
>yankee goes NO U STOP BEING A HILLBILLY
kek
>y’all
>racist
Subliminal messaging?
>Pokemon's Nessa or Steven Universe's Garnet and how people casually use it to bait and troll.
Do they even understand why that happened?
>Black creator hashtag is just people making established characters black
Fitting since the best thing the black community does is steal.
You see, i always hate this shit when artist draw white characters as black. They always give them ugly looking noses and dirty ass looking hair(dreds, afro). Why can't black characters get the cool noses and line mouths. They always draw them with big red lips. This is how a black character shoule look like(minus the dreds). Don't gives retarded lips and noses. Just change their skin colour dangnabit!
Its honestly just sad that black artists do this kind of shit and perpetuate the idea that no executives can trust that an original black character can hold their own, they need to rely on changing previously gained popularity for white characters to get any kind of recognition or success.
