Instead, we got Rock-a-doodle.

I'll take chicken tits.
What. Those are different eras and companies.
Yeah. Disney contemplated made a Chanticleer movie in the late 40's/early 50's, but it never made it past the drawing board. Since no one had made one, Don Bluth jumped on the idea in the 90's. And well, Rock-a-doodle wasn't very good. I like the Disney character designs a lot more personally.
Well, Disney eventually released a picture book with the complete story. That's where OP's image is from.
Are you sure? Multiple websites say they're Concept art by Marc Davis.
Nevermind, just found a book. Apparently ome of the character designs heavily inspired/were directly inserted into Robin Hood and America Sings as well.

>The presentation didn't come off. The songs didn't gel, it was some guy up on a piano singing "cockadoodle doo! Cockaddoodle doo!" I sort of cringed in my chair.
It might have been just like Rock-a-doodle
>a BRILLIANT film
I can't tell if this post is being sarcastic or not. I love Don Bluth's work more than most, but there's no denying that his version of this story is among his weakest films. The songs in particular were pretty awful.
It was Don's first failure, and the only one he is almost entirely responsible for (later failures are largely not his fault). Nostalgiafags will literally like feces if those feces come from their childhood.
>that thing is supposed to be a pheasant
Don Bluth usually draws great bird characters. What the hell happened here?
He wanted his very own Jessica Rabbit.
>Jessica Rabbit
Once again, Spielberg's influence rears it's ugly head.
I'll fanboy for Bluth as hard as anyone, but I don't think anybody who isn't trolling would willingly defend Schlock-A-Doodle.
How does a pheasant and rooster cross breed?
They can't, but that doesn't mean they don't spend the entire night trying.
I enjoyed it as a kid, and can still watch it as an adult. With that said, it's not without its problems. It probably would've been 50% better without the live- action sequences.
Definitely the most cartoony looking Don Bluth film, not a good thing imo
>I enjoyed it as a kid, and can still watch it as an adult
How? Maybe it's because I never saw it when I was a kid, but I couldn't even make it through the very first song without having to pause to collect my thoughts. Films rarely make me physically wince, but this did that to me.
What is that? Googled Mullewapp and all I could find was some CGI straight to DVD looking garbage.
Is there more and is this worth tracking down to watch?
There's an older 2D one.
Too anthropomorphic, fully bipedal looked weird in Robin Hood and it looks weird here.
lol, of course only referring to the four legged animals here. Before I am corrected by smart aleck user.
The sun's not the only thing rising
Didn't even know Disney was working on that. They should give it a shot and make it.
