How would the US military or any industrialized nation would fare against the fire nation of ATLAverse. Would they stand a chance or would get murderfucked to oblivion? I'm assuming how the scenery will start out
>End of season 2 >Aang goes temporary long sleep >Azula has full control of ba sing se and earth kingdom >Somewhere in the 4 nations some wonky honky warp fuckery magic bullshit happens and giant ass portal opens in our modernizated world >US government discovered the portal >Send in US army along with CIA glowies to make contact with rhe world and futher see if there's any intelligent beings in the world >Found a local earth kingdom village to explain everything and the history and recent events (100 year war, Return of the Avatar, bending, 4 nations etc.) >US government sends diplomats to make contact with the nations >Cooperation goes decent until the fire nation incident >Cooperation with the fire nation goes south and one of the diplomats gets burned (likely azula being a bitch) >FN basically declares war on the US. >FN has been spying by sending soldiers to plan attack on a nearby major US city >They plan to attack, underestimating the US military, believing they are the most powerful military in the world.
>How would the US military or any industrialized nation would fare against the fire nation of ATLAverse. Really well because we have the ability to shoot them at bigger distances than kung fu range?
What the fuck is a firebender going to do against a Sidewinder missile? Pose at it?
Jordan Mitchell
The Fire Nation gets decimated in an air campaign without the loss of a single American because they have absolutely no air defense or electronic warfare capabilities to speak of and their shitty flying monsters can't go above 20,000 feet or else they'll die of asphyxiation (a WW2-era B-29 Superfortress could fly at 32,000 feet by comparison, modern jets can fly twice as high easily). A one-sided slaughter only rivaled by Serbia in 1995 and 1999 in terms of utterly pathetic it truly is.
Your American Civil War vs Firebender thread was better.
Michael Reed
I'm pretty sure II Corps, Army of Northern Virginia would stomp on the Fire Nation with contemptuous ease because they've fought in an actual war and are lead by an autistic savant and absolute madman who legitimately has the power of God on his side.
It made for a decent debate at least. Because it is essentially: >Better guns and artillery, huge armies and entrenched battles, better range and training. Vs. >Fast enemy with tanks, huge airships, bending (including extreme bending like lightning). So in entrenched or fix battles, Americans win. In fast guerilla tactics? Fire nation (maybe). Who knows how the Americans would counter airships with bombs.
Anyway, modern world vs the fire nation is far too easy to pick a winner because a couple helios and jets could decimate their forces.
I wish.
Dylan Gray
>fix *fixed
Cameron Gray
Depends. Any nation that isn't a Geneva convention signer would deploy gas agents. Nerve agent would wipe out the fire nation army before it even knew it was in a fight. As for the USA, specifically...
>Anyway, modern world vs the fire nation is far too easy to pick a winner because a couple helios and jets could decimate their forces.
I'm pretty sure Germany in 1945 even with the Waffen-SS literally emptying out concentration camps for recruits, Luftwaffe building planes out of plywood and glue, 2/3rds of their tanks being inoperable from lack of fuel and spare parts, and Hitler being so fucked out of his mind on drugs that his generals managed to portray him a raving lunatic to avoid any responsibility for losing the war would still wallop the Fire Nation because BF-109s can effortlessly outrun anything they have.
Honestly I think that the earth kingdom can do more againts US army that the fire nation. >easy bunker, fortrees and trench costruction >tanks (and other land veicles) can be stop by some well plase walls >most bullets uselees againts thicc rock walls that be re made if dstroy >one good earth bender can obliterate five regular soldiers in one move Also the earth kingdom is HUGE and has more man power that any other avatar faction. The americans goin to find a Irak situation but x10 and with and enemy that can construc defences in the blink of and eye (and also use it to kill you).

>how would the us military handle the fire nation Artillery is fun
Easton Flores
I mean you don't really understand the strength of modern weaponry. So sure, some really top level benders can do some hax shit. But nigga, America literally has nuclear weapons, bunker busters, rounds that could make rocks into paper. What are the Earth Benders going to do to a Drone too high up for them to see when it drops a bomb on them?
Joshua White
They get absolutely fucking destroyed by a modern military that has far more destructive power at a greater range than they could ever hope to have.
Eli Hernandez
Do you now how many bombs we have stockpiled since the cold war outfitted with Jdam just begging to be dropped on someone? Even if we didn't employ new technology we could endlessly carpet bomb with bombs that are actually guided to targets. It would be hilariously one sided.
Asher Green
>How would the US military or any industrialized nation would fare against the fire nation of ATLAverse This is a ridiculous insane stomp even vs pic related. Fire nation is toast.
How the fuck did they get a picture of it flying without its propellers moving what the fuck!?
Asher Rivera
Sounds like daisy cutters are back in vogue, boys.

>How would the US military or any industrialized nation would fare against the fire nation of ATLAverse. They had WWI tech I think any country that isn't just insanely undeveloped could beat them easy >But firebending Fire is barely an object to tanks, planes, and so on. They also have snipers who can easily take out their high command. Essentially it's like if they were fighting, like I said, Japan in WWI
David Russell
Well considering we can't beat a few rice farmers probably not well
Connor Davis
Sometimes people bring up Davis-Monthan Air Force Base, but realistically, most of those planes will not and cannot fly again. I prefer the Sierra Army Depot.
This is about 1/20th of the depot and maybe half the vehicles at it Every line is dozens of tanks or trucks or APCs or artillery pieces. Most of the rest of the depot is munitions bunkers.
The real question is, how far down the list of nations do you have to go to find someone who'd have a tough time? Even the majority of African nations could defeat the Fire nation (whether they'd defeat themselves first is often the bigger obstacle). Any nation in the top 100 in pretty much any military metric should have no trouble squashing the Fire Nation if they have any competence.
Jacob Morgan
I think that's because despite the trappings the base level of the Fire Nation is the Industrial Age, not Ye Olden Times, and that's not even getting to the stuff that is pretty clearly 20th century like zeppelins and jet skis.
Michael Phillips
lmao serbia wouldn't even come close to the slaughter we'd have to exercise restraint
Caleb Ward
>lose the only wars they're involved in
Juan Gonzalez
Bump
Henry Lee
I feel like the biggest threat benders would pose in a war is quiet attacks. You let one blood bender into a city center and shit is fucked. Imagine what happens if an earth bender gets into striking range of a missile silo. There's also the risk of them using our tech for research. So in a wargame styled white room battle yes even the weakest modern day army could take on a nation but a long term war would be messy
