The Mario Bros. cartoons haven't been on TV (Even including reruns) since the 90's

>The Mario Bros. cartoons haven't been on TV (Even including reruns) since the 90's

If they haven't been on TV since the 90's, how come there are people around my age that are aware that there were Mario Bros. Cartoons? I was born in 2000 and I remember people around my age knew what stuff like Mama Luigi was, even though reruns on TV were gone by the time they were born. It's even more surprising because the last time Mario Bros. Cartoons aired on TV was in 1997, the same year Welcome to Pooh Corner and Dumbo's Circus last aired on TV. However, with the latter two, barely anyone around my age are even aware of them, while with the Mario Bros. Cartoons, I remember in Elementary School, I was talking to someone about Mama Luigi and he was like "That's Mama Luigi to You Mario!"

How are the Mario Bros. Cartoons more well known than stuff like Pooh Corner and Dumbo's Circus if all of them stopped airing reruns around the same time?

My Dad used to tape them at work where they had cable and bring it home to me.

Youtube Poop and Memes keeping them "relevant" due the sheer absurdity of it, same reason people know/care about the CD-i games.

And really, it is also the classic "Relative/Rental has it on VHS", the Mario show is something kids are pretty likely to check out if given the opportunity because it is Mario so it has that immediate "What?" factor to grab interest, the same goes for the Zelda stuff.

Mario had a bunch of VHS releases, it's how I discovered it as a kid. The only Welcome to Pooh Corner tape they made was for Too Smart for Strangers.

Let me tell you why, because despite everything hammered down people's throats nowadays, some people still retain information that isn't mainstream garbage forced down our throats.

Does this really need explained? Nintendo is a kid friendly game system and hes the mascot for them, hes a cultural icon that everyone pretty much knows about so many people look more into him to see what other content there is related to him.

dvds were literally in every checkout section of every Wall-Mart, and those boring clothing/furniture stores your parents dragged you to.

MAMA?
MAMA LUIGI???

Especially says. They have tons of Mario dvds with random episodes on them.

>The Mario Bros. cartoons haven't been on TV (Even including reruns) since the 90's
This isn't true, at least internationally, because I absolutely did catch it airing on TV briefly in the early 2000s.
>If they haven't been on TV since the 90's, how come there are people around my age that are aware that there were Mario Bros. Cartoons?
Literally because of Youtube Poops dude.

Based Dad.

Youtube Poops
Memes
A certain Italian Pizza Pasta Paisano streamer

because mario and they still stand out being the only mario cartoons we got

YouTube poop is what helped keep this show fresh in peoples minds.

>A certain Italian Pizza Pasta Paisano streamer
He really singlehandedly keeps this show's memory alive as of 2020. Without him the only people who would talk about it are people who were there during the YTP era watching Mama Luigi and Mario telling Luigi he didn't make the stone football

The Starz/Encore Family channel has been running the SMB3 and World cartoons for some time now. They air on a block with other DiC/Cookie Jar programming (Heathcliff, Inspector Gadget, Adventures of Sonic, Sonic satam, Sonic Underground)

He wasn't even trying to be this hip streamer of the interwebs or whatever.

I grew up watching it as a child when it on SatAM. Watching it as an adult makes me cringe. The anime is way better.

Youtube Poop is literally the only reason most people remember these exist

>Mario Bros Super Show
Shown on network TV on its original release, then later shown on cable
Had VHS release from the start all the way to mid-90s
Had some episodes released on DVD during the early 00s before finally getting a full release on DVD in 2006, then another company did the DVD release during the late 00s, and yet another company did a DVD release in 2012
Added to Netflix in 2012

>Pooh Corner
Was only shown on cable
Only had VHS release

>Dumbo's Circus
only shown on cable
Didn't get squat for physical media

Also probably what said

It was on KidsCo over here

Fuck, it's worse than I thought: Pooh only had VHS releases in the 80s:

And one DVD which only had one episode. Face it, Disney didn't really care about releasing it.

KidsCo was such a weird channel. When DIC and Cookie Jar shows are your highlights, how'd you expect to survive?

I wonder what it'd be like for vidya history if Luigi's main color was blue and not green.

HYYYYYYYEEEEEEEEAALP

THAT'S MAMA LUIGI TO YOU MARIO
*WHEEZE*

This show's nowhere near as good as any of the first two Sonic cartoons, but it's up there with AoSTH in terms of bring memeable.

The singing segments in SMBSS are fucking cringy. Some people shouldn't be allowed to sing.

I know video below is from the Super Mario World tv series, but still SMBSS has the exact same kind of vocals. Go to 8:05 & you'll see what I mean
