The art style is bland, the writing overdramatic and pretentious, there is barely any superheroing
It's a stereotypical teen drama disguised as capeshit.
What's the appeal of this series?

I think it's the gay shipping.
>It's a stereotypical teen drama disguised as capeshit.
that's what I liked about it
You like shitty pretentious drama?
yes
>It's a stereotypical teen drama disguised as capeshit.
You described X-Men Evolution
I disagree with literally everything you don't like about the show.
Whne the DCAU gone this was a good replacement it was what I wanted in Teen Titans
I wouldn't mind if the drama if it was actually good like Sym Bionic Titan but no it's just as bad as Ultimate Alien
Its wearing a facade of seriousness and maturity and people are retarded enough to buy it.
The writing is tight, the villains aren't complete morons, and the action is very great.
>the action is very great
There is no fluidity in the animation and the storyboard is lazy
Hard disagree. The show is always creative with character and power interaction. It's really good.
The animation's even worse than I remember but what exactly those this prove?
The storyboard is still lazy even SU as better action scenes.
Out of all the superhero shows it feels like it has the biggest world. It's not a show where the whole universe revolves around one hero or one small team. Things are constantly happening in the background of whatever one particular episode is focusing on. The world feels lived-in with its own history. It's the opposite of a lot of comics/comic adaptations where it's basically "all this superhero business started like five years ago except for this one hero/team from decades ago we'll talk about in one episode maybe."
A lot of people hate the time skips but I love them. No other superhero show does major progression of time like that. Seeing Superboy go from an angry angsty teenager to a more mellowed-out adult to a much wiser adult who's now mentoring an angry angsty teenager of his own was awesome.
>S1 and S2
>typical cartoon heroics with some implications of more mature material
>S3
What the fuckity fuck happened? I know there was the hiatus, but it escalated so quickly it could just as well have been a different show.
I swear the creative staff had a gore boner every time they killed off Halo.
Lol wut. What's lazy about it? Every scene is dynamic and imaginative. The animation is fluid and the situation is creative.
season 3 was complete fucking trash and i liked the first two
The first season was pretty enjoyable, but the second season suffered from the usual Greg Weisman problem of too much shit going on. Like how many plot lines were happening at once? At least 12-15, right?
>Every scene is dynamic and imaginative. The animation is fluid and the situation is creative.
Just because you think that crap tastes like sweet it doesn't mean it's chocolate
Back then it was unthinkable that an animated series could have that kind of detailed art style without the animation being stiff. Obviously the animation quality degraded by season two and especially three, but it was a huge fucking deal.
I think season one had a good balance of taking stuff seriously without getting overdramatic. Season two was too serious and up its own ass, but I think season three brought some much-needed levity back.
>there is barely any superheroing
Superheroing isn't just stopping whatever threat of the week is. Honestly, it's kind of nice to have proactive superheroes instead of purely reactive ones.

I don't have the exact quote but I remember reading that Greg Weisman said that Young Justice is a spy show primarily and a superhero show secondarily. I always thought that was a really cool way to try to build a comic adaptation.
It's the last sincere superhero cartoon left. Everything else is either "subversive" comedies or stuff for literal toddlers.
brainlet
>Back then it was unthinkable that an animated series could have that kind of detailed art style without the animation being stiff
There is nothing detailed about the art and animation is nowhere close to EMH or Generator Rex
>I think season one had a good balance of taking stuff seriously without getting overdramatic.
They wasted 2 episodes for a dream simulation were they failed saving the Earth so that could see how "dark and cruel reality can be" and other pretentious nonsense like that
>Superheroing isn't just stopping whatever threat of the week is. Honestly, it's kind of nice to have proactive superheroes
Bullshit they didn't act like superheroes at all they looked more like spies

Meanwhile YJ "deep mature " drama for manchildren
It's greg wiseman's attempt to crease a dc universe that actually progresses in time, and that alone justifies it's existence.
>There is nothing detailed about the art and animation is nowhere close to EMH or Generator Rex
Both of those shows are pretty stylized. Not as much as Spectacular Spider-Man or Teen Titans, but definitely in comparison to Young Justice or Korra or any of Netflix's adult action cartoons.
>They wasted 2 episodes for a dream simulation were they failed saving the Earth so that could see how "dark and cruel reality can be" and other pretentious nonsense like that
How is it pretentious? Wouldn't that kind of scenario fuck people up, even if temporarily? I thought it was refreshing since most stories just skip that and go back to status quo. Also, the episode dealing with the aftermath had a fairly lighthearted main plot about Superboy teaming up with the Forever People in a one-off adventure.
>Bullshit they didn't act like superheroes at all they looked more like spies
That's the literal conceit of the series, yes. Superheroes are inherently reactive, though, so I understand why them being more proactive might startle you.
>EMH or Generator Rex
Alright I don't know what your deal is but you're clearly delusional.
