Oh these kinds of things make me nostalgic. I have a job where there is lots of downtime but I can’t use it to do my own things in a productive way, so when I’m bored I like to write up hypothetical tv schedules and bumpers. I’m not autistic just bored.

I do the same exact thing user, though it's up hypothetical but rather I catalog nostalgic TV schedules

Dirty Duck

It warms my heart that there are other people on this board old enough to remember this.

How're things going, 30-something bros?

You know what the creepiest shit about Cartoon Theater? the feather duster and a flying goddamn moth from the bumpers

I thought the agreed creepist thing was that time they aired Twice Upon a Time.

I thought I was alone! Do you have favorite eras or programs types?

I wonder if enough people would find this interesting enough to get its own thread. I always imagined it like either being sent back in the past and trying to put together ‘Modern’ programming that people from past decades would enjoy or being a sort of post apocalyptic tv broadcast operator.

It’s silly I know.

I do something similar a few times a week before bed
I have a ton of shows/movies/bumpers on a few different hard drives, so I'll come up with a list about a half-hour before bed and queue up episodes of shows, then put in old commercials and bumpers in between. I'll even put shorts between them.

There's not a consistent schedule, now that I don't have a consistent schedule, but it'll usually start with some sitcoms before going into some animation. Usually around the middle of the night it's some anime followed by a movie, before more cartoons.
It's kind of moot, since I sleep through a lot of it, but I have trouble sleeping some nights, so it's nice to wake up to something I'll enjoy watching. I'm also susceptible to stimuli while I sleep, so depending on what's on (or how loud it is) it may effect what I'm dreaming about as well, which is neat.

It's a cozy time

Well you’ve gone the furthest since you’ve actually put schedules together. I might try this. I’ve also been sleeping and leaving the tv to run, I’ve also found it to positively affect my dreams.

My favorite era ever is 1998-2004 era Cartoon Network followed by 199501999 Nickelodeon. They are the epitome of soul and variety in lineup for me.

>Cats Don't Dance
>Scooby Doo and the Ghoul School/Witch's Ghost/Zombie Island/Cyber Chase
>Man Named Flintstone
>Balto
>Wacko's Wish
>Land Before Time 1-whatever the fuck they went to
>Iron Giant
>American Tail/Fievel Goes West
>Batman Mask of Phantasm/Subzero/Return of the Joker
>Samurai Jack origin movie
>Justice League pilot movie
>Those shitty Looney Tunes compilation movies from the 80s
>The Good, The Bad, and the Huckelberry Hound
>Charlottes Web
Did I miss any?

Good taste! I have to agree, sufficient variety is something I like in my tv blocks too.

Do you think anyone would be interested in a thread for this or are we too few?

Legend of the Overfiend

too few I've tired to start them multiple times

Here's an archive of old disney channel schedules btw, they are the hardest to find online. Its not very complete but you can get some from each year

Early disney channel was really weird and had tons of third party programming

Really!? That’s a shame I’ve never seen your threads before. I dunno I’m still tempted to try given that this thread has somehow managed to bring 3 of us into one thread at the same time but it’s disheartening that past attempts haven’t been successful.

Balto and the Land Before Time were part of the original four films that were promoted together when Cartoon Theater first started, does anyone remember what the other two were?

I'm pretty sure they aired The Hobbit or The Lord of the Rings, but I have no clue if it was part of the original batch.

never even heard of this

It was great for background noise. It was always movies I've seen dozens of times.

I remember they aired 2 eurpoean films as well that I can't remember the name of now:

One was about anthropmorphic mice in a sort of spy thriller parody thing. I remember the ending of it had the hero give a wink to his best friend before closing the curtains and seeing his sillhouette with the female lead kissing.

The other was a very grim movie about these dogs living in a mansion and having to protect it from these evil twins who were trying to inherit it or something. I specifically remember a scene where they try to scare them with the big dog having whipped cream in his mouth pretending it was rabies.

That’s awesome, that’s basically a step further than me. Usually on the weekends, I’ll put on one of those commercial/bumper complications from a past decade like 70’s,80’s, maybe 90’s Cartoon Network powerhouse/ Toonami stuff. Very cozy and full of soul desu. It’s crazy how even commercials can be remembered so fondly now.

Yeah the Bakshi film was part of cartoon theater. I remember because I saw maybe 5 seconds of it as a 10 year old and immediately changed the channel out of fear.
I really miss stuff like cartoon theater, aughts Cartoon Network was proof your channel really could have it all.

Oh shit, found one of them!

I remember it showed The Mask starring Jim Carrey, but probably only in my region
