Good morning Anons - apologies for the trouble.
Mrs. DeLaire has some doubts about Emmy - can a robot really be an integral part of the family? Are the DeLaires too dependent on Emmy?
Emmy the Robot - Official Comic
I'll start off with some discussion questions, I suppose. First time doing this so go figure. Do you think that having such an anthropomorphic robot may skew a child's view of what's normal for humans versus robots? Is seeing a humanoid robot with (ostensibly) feelings and thoughts treat itself as lower maybe damaging for kids?
Damn wasn't expecting a thread this early but I'll take it, thankfully theres a comic haha. I had something cool to share because I made a graph of the "raw" number of art of each nandroid, meaning sketches and colorings because I save both and, though popular, OCs lose out to Emmy easily.
Did the non-working wife get mad her husband said the wife work is HER work?
Cunt doesn't work, what the fuck she mad about?
Daddy makes the bacon, daddy makes the rules
I should elaborate that there are two Aubreys, the one from this chart is the "original" though she never got much art, and the second is the latino fanbases OC who gets into trouble, and the two Shelly/eys too
She does work user, she's a lawyer for a nonprofit. Read up on le lore
Here's your singular, endangered Aubrey anons
>Scottish Aubrey vs Spanish Aubrey
>bagpipes vs. vuvuzelas
>"I wish I had one do MY job!"
Be careful what you wish for, Mr. Delaire...
>the entire audience is now deaf
>tfw no robot gf
I don't think there would be many instances in which a Nandroid would actually demonstrate or state that they are considered lower than their humans, the humans pets, or ostensibly the humans plants.
But there would certainly be some typical change in the view children have of robots and humans, in which, much like the OP comic, they might even consider them more than just a robot maid, but a part of the family and precious to them.
>Sterling replaces all their human employees with nandroids able to do them better, faster and cheaper
Thus marches progress
>Mrs Delaire is the one who is suspicious of Emmy
Good, hopefully this shuts that obnoxious yurishitter faggot up.
I can see them never explicitly saying that, but given they're programmed to know pets are above them imagine a situation where a nandroid and their kid are walking past a stray cat. Knowing she's beneath the stray cat does the nandroid pause and let it pass? Offer it milk or a biscuit? Seeing nandroids cater to humans on a degree where they're *less* than human would be confusing, especially for kids growing up seeing that people wouldn't bend over backwards for just any old request or want.
>"I wish I had one to do my job too!"
what did he mean by this?
>never ever
Kids may be retarded, but sometimes they are alot smarter and more mature than we give them credit for.
Any child growing up adapts to, and understands things based on their surroundings. They would more than likely know that their nandroids are seperate from humans, and that if their nandroid does anything for the benefit of others its just what they do, and that any request given to a nandroid doesn't necessarily mean that any person would also comply with the request. And, as such, children would even treat their own nandroids the same as how their parents treat them. If the parents show that they care nothing for the nandroid, or even treat it like trash, the kid will grow up caring nothing for nandroids, and/or treat them like trash.
I even very much doubt nandroids would just stand by and let themselves be attacked, even by their owners, and, obviously not attacking back in self defense, would still probably try and retreat to safety.
>no nandroid to sit by the fireplace, wear comfy clothing, or drink hot chocolate with
It's nice that you guys were able to quantify your autism in one image. I don't think even ponyfags had as much dedication to document their many many fetish OCs.
Looking at it this way, makes you realize how absolutely essential it would be for families with two working parents, to have a third party to help with domestic and child rearing duties.
In the old days before nuclear family was enforced, this was usually an older sibling, unmarried uncle/aunt or grandparent, but nowadays with the atomization of relationships, extended families no longer exist.
Modern life was a mistake
>still self-inserting as greenface user, who is dressed well and has a job that can support that lifestyle
With how seemingly sentient Nandroids (and other robots?) act, I'd say it'd be easy to consider them a part of the family. Emmy and Madeline seem very fond of each other. Ted clearly likes Emmy too, and Angela probably likes or at least appreciates her, but just feels weird about the arrangement.
Whether or not Emmy's affection is "real" is a question of where programming ends and sentience begins, and that's another topic entirely.
Over reliance on any robots is a personal issue more than anything. If a Nandroid is cool with it (they seem thrilled to work), I'd say let them do the lion's share, but also don't purposefully leave a mess just because you know she'll clean it up. Take your dishes to the sink, push in your chair when you get up, that sort of thing. Her job is to clean, but that doesn't mean you have to be a slob.
I do think constant exposure to advanced robots would have an effect on a kid's perception of humanity. But as long as interactions with robots are mostly limited to service droids (nandroids, trolley drivers, maybe seeing occasional construction robots) I think most kids would be able to discern "human" behavior from "inhuman" behavior. It's outmodes who might start to blur the lines for a kid.
>it's all a ploy, decades in the making, to make nanybots a necessity and a reality
I really think the outmodes are the slip fault in this story, especially considering both Madeline's curiosity and Emmy's already spoken sympathy for them. Her duty is to report them but while out for a walk they may happen upon one by chance, begging. Emmy won't report him but maybe toss him some change from her allowance and be on with her day, and then suddenly she's thrust out when Madeline says Emmy gave money to a really old robot, not knowing any better. With how outmodes are depicted in universe odds are any patent would be terrified if their domestic robot showed herself to be anything other than hateful or just dismissive towards outmodes.
The nandroid would probably put the kid's safety first and be cautious around the stray. Alone they might do the same, treating them like how they're taught to treat outmodes.
When did Emmy show sympathy? Unless you're referencing the time in nandroid class when she said she didn't see the issue.
At the end of the strip she understand and accept the view of outmodes being potentially dangerous, after Bradbury explain the reasoning.
Though if the general consensus on outmodes is so meh-tier that you even possibly can chance upon one in public without it being hunted down like an escaped serial killer seems to imply that the corporate side is the one with the major problem with them, and as far as legality or public opinion goes, the situation must not be terribly hostile.
Well that's what I was referencing but I don't think she'd give that up so easily, at least not without reason. She knew smothering a baby was wrong cause that kills but the issue with not being distrusting of nandroids was never tightly established.
At this point in time, the msot she'd do to help an outmode would be looking away instez dof reporting them.
Too risky for he otherwise, and what you're referencing was more an"I don't get it" than outright being against the idea.
Liek with the baby, she didn't know it would kill it until told so and she accepted it right then and there. (I mean yes, but none of the nandroids questioned it after it was explained, so we could assume the same for the outmode issue)
>Emmy you silly robot how'd you trip and get tangled like that!
That's some vile, hilarious shit user.
Mange tes morts
scuse me?
Does this take into account the greens or nah?
Muslims would naturally regard nandroids as an abomination. It is essentially an artificial living thing, an usurpation of Allah's divine creation.
Nandroids would be attacked and beheaded left and right in Europe, the Middle East, and other Muslim majority regions.
