This might sound weird, but I feel like a lot of modern comic book character designs are too practical (Either for new characters or redesigns). For me anyway, a big appeal of capeshit comics is how things don't have to be realistic. You can have characters wear stuff that would look silly on a real person because they're a drawing and in that form it looks cool.
This might sound weird...
It's not weird you feel that way, it's just a matter of preference. Personally, I like that comic/cartoon designs are leaning more towards practicality in their designs. Capeshit movies started leaning into this over a decade ago and I for one am glad that cartoons and comics are beginning to follow. Especially in the age of where comics and cartoons are illustrated digitally now. We can afford to put in more detail in costume design much more effectively and quickly than we could if say we were still stuck with pencil, paper and ink.
It is not weird. I like that it makes it more realistic, but most tacticool designs look bland and with a tv-plot-pitch series it is too obvious they write for a tv series!
Yea a lot of modern designs are just boring
Like yeah a lot old costumes are bad or terribad (hello Perez NTT and Infinity Inc, golden age JSA) but they still have charm
A lot of modern costumes are just like "yeah I guess I could wear that outside in public and not be completely embarrassed"
Good points. What we forget, their colorfull costumes are mostly their advertisment, to hide identity (how he looked? He had this black bat like costume, his face looked like...., a chin!) or born out of a psychlogical point of view.
What we mostly forget, Batman made his costume to make the criminals fear him.
I think it depends on the character. That doesn't look awful and makes me kind of interested in Catwoman if that's going to be her new costume. Street level characters can get away with it easier, but shit like Superman's armored suit is dumb as hell.
It’s not weird. It’s a common opinion on this board.
What the purpose of "distraction" mode ?
Any way, I don't like that suit. The tail transforming into a whip is a cool idea, but the tron lines just doesn't work for me.
Honestly, I'm not big into pratical suit, but if I were obligated to use a pratical suit for a series, I would take cue from Arkham city character designs.
For me this game strike a good balance between super hero iconography and gritty realism, except Robin who looks ugly and Harley Quinn who looks generic.
But how else would people who are embarrassed by capeshit act like they buy and make it?
that one looks pretty good from behind, front not so much
I like things less practical more fantasy, pic related fan redesign of X-23 costume based on Psylocke.
Not bad I hate that dudes gookfaces though he ruins all of his art with Korean looking ghoul faces.
I just want Batman and Superman in "red panties" or whatever faggots are calling them these days and Hal in a onesie that looks like an old celtics uniform with underarmor under it. Is that so hard??
I'm with you, OP.
what's silly is seeing all these super powered warriors charging into battle unarmed and wearing what is basically body paint
with one notable exception
>what's sillynis every comic before Jim lee destroyed them
Batman wears gray cloth when they're not pandering to newfags like you.
Fucking Christ I hate you NolanBat acolytes.
>plastic-explosive grenades
I hope this is just for understanding purposes an analogy not the real thing in his belt.
No.
It's kino.
I think this board REEEEs too hard at minor details. You want that right blend of practical and fantastical to make it all the more real to you. Honestly this board throws the biggest shitfit over pockets you'd thought Rob Liefeld raped them.
No to be clear I'm not advocating for hyper realistic designs. As I said earlier, you want to ride the line between the two worlds. But then there are certain key details that serve no purpose but still want. Like for example there's no real reason why Supergirl should wear a skirt, but you want it for style alone. Same could be said for Wolverine's mask
Female designs are just boring because they have to fill sjw standards of not being sexy or feminin looking
I really miss not every female character having to be flat chested and covered up head to toe because boobs trigger lefties
go back to spider-man threads retard
Nobody’s REEEEing in this thread except for you.
It’s all silly, user. All of it.
Armoring up your devilishly handsome multibillionaire crime fighting Darkseid shooting bat wearing muscle monster doesn’t make him any more realistic.
What did you mean by this?
>Nobody’s REEEEing in this thread except for you.
You exaggerate, and I was talking about Zig Forums in general, ass.
I’m not fan of realistic design, but really hate high heels of female heroes.
>It's all silly, user. All of it.
This.
I don't mind realistic style on super hero, but at the end of the day, Batman is still a detective in a bat suit, no matter how "dark" and "mature" people think he is.
Kind of funny how people mock Superman for being silly, childish and having "underwear over pants", but they also wank a guy in a bat themed skin tight suit. If anything Supe make more sense than Batman.
I like the visual look but having walked in heels It takes me right out the comic/game etc when I see it lol scaling a mountain meanwhile I'd snap my ankle like a twig
you're fat
most of superheroes design look like just colored nude drawings
You try it man. I'm a guy who's tried walking in high heels (No homo) and I do not understand how women who wear them are just not constantly falling over.
Calm down.
One of the reasons I loathe Mitch Gerard's Punisher design. It makes /k/ hard but for it simply doesn't work. There is an element of fantasy inherent in The Punisher that his getup being explicitly tactical removes. The og bodysuit has an almost corrupted superhero aura to it. Russ Heath did a great job balancing accurate military tech of the time with the fantastic aspect of his getup. Gerard strips away the over the top action hero element. I get that's Edmondson and his gimmick.
nope just uncoordinated, but thanks!
I'm also a guy, and in my 13-15, my sister and her friend made me wear high heels because mocked how awkward they looked.
I walked perfectly without falling, and I didn't have any issues
Is this your first day here? Me calling you an ass for overreacting isn't that big of an insult dude
