Why do Japanese obsess over South Park of all western animations, when they never draw the characters on model?

Because like a lot of anime, it's both cute and vulgar. It fits right into their sensibilities.

He's also the coolest and most ripped!

Objectively speaking it is Butters, because a boy-loving priest refers to him as "the cute one" in A Boy and A Priest.

But how much of the jokes do they even understand? Political satire seems like the worst thing to try and market to an international audience.

If you're clever about it, the jokes can work on their regardless of wheter or not the audience understands the reference.

Take for example Manbearpig. If you know that Al Gore is a former Vice President who lost to an idiot in the presidential election and tried to make himself seem more important by filming himself doing a presentation on global warming, the satire works because it gets at the heart of why he's kind of pathetic in real life. If you don't know who he is you might not get the satire, but it's still funny because the caricature of him is an egocentric loser with no grip on reality, who then goes ahead and puts people in real danger over a threat that might not even be real.

See also the Sally Struthers parody. Watching the episode for the first time, I had no idea who she was in the real world, but I still understood the humor in an obese woman spreading awareness of african famine.

Take your blacked posting to

It is not about the political aspect. You mongrels can't seem to get that through your head. It's not just the japs, the rest of the world LOVES South Park, do you think they ever cared or understood what flavor of the week political events the episodes were vaguely referencing? Because to a big majority the episodes aren't about the American election, they're about two ridiculous mascots at South Park elementary and Stan's journey, they're about boys sending a whale to space, about Butters playing super villain, about Cartman trying to get invited to Casa Bonita for Kyle's birthday. Most memorable episodes have zero political references, the warcraft ep, the zipline ep, the scott tenorman ep. South Park used to be about fun stories and crude jokes and compelling characters. Why do you think latest seasons are less liked? Because they stopped making good stories. Because they're making "Randy goes to China and smokes weed with Trump" episodes.

What is it about Southpark that attracts all the Fujoshis? It's like the female equivalent of Sonic, for males.

Is it the cute aesthetics and voices of the boys? Is it their boyish charms? Is it the oft-used sexual themes prominent in the show's running? Is it the intense characterization and development that occurred as a result of being on air for 20+ seasons, allowing them to form close and informed bonds with these fictional characters? All of the above? Something else? Something more? WHAT!?

It's honestly kind of gross since the show sexualizes the children as a joke, but clearly a lot of people take it seriously

Meh, I honestly couldn't really give a fuck, but I see where people are coming from when they say that

The characters are charming and that attracted the japanese veiwers to draw art of them which attracted the weebs to draw more art.
Its not as though the creators themselves don't know about it too, they lean into that shit frequently.

Are you suddenly incapable of understanding what's going on in a country just because you don't live there?

A lot of women are shotacons, and SP is a safer way to express and explore that. You pretty much nailed it with everything else you’ve said though.

>A lot of women are shotacons, and SP is a safer way to express and explore that
You do realize we don't get off to real life boys right? Us liking sp shotas isn't "safer", it's normal

Do you girls "get off" to SP, or is it just like a "I fell for their boyish charms" kind of thing?

Be honest, because I honestly couldn't give a shit even if you did get off to them.

Duh. SP boys are a little less outright shota than other 2D boys, that’s all. They come from a show that already talks about sexual themes in a joking way and they act like adults in many ways, so it’s not seen as creepy to sexualize them as it is for other characters. None of it has anything to do with real life people to kids.

>Do you girls "get off" to SP, or is it just like a "I fell for their boyish charms" kind of thing?
For me it's mostly the latter.
>Be honest, because I honestly couldn't give a shit even if you did get off to them
I haven't masturbated in 6 years, too afraid to

Doesn't help they got a big ass VA like Kappei Yamaguchi (Usopp, L, Inuyasha) to voice Kyle
