>let's give YouTubers attention
no
I unironically laughed when he was talking about superhero media not involving politics and used an image from the DCAU. The fucking irony.
He's correct about Watchmen and why the sequel comics are trash, but his fatal flaw is his implication that an art form making some sort of political statement automatically makes it good or more meaningful.
The best example is the Watchmen tv show but if that isn't good enough and people are going to accuse me of hating it cause
>muh black people
you can always point to stuff like Triumph of the Will or honestly any political comic he disagrees with I'm sure.
Just cause the author has something to say, does not mean it's correct or worth listening.
>The best example is the Watchmen tv show but if that isn't good enough and people are going to accuse me of hating it cause
It's Quintin Reviews, he's totally say this.
I know, that's why I also added Triumph of the Will as a more extreme example in the 1% chance he's a lurker to show how utilizing your art for political expression is hardly a qualifier of quality or depth.
Damn right, otherwise the room would be a classic just because the director tried to say something about the human condition.
I'm not watching your video, user
I don't give a shit about the opinions of someone who spends their adult life making hour long videos reviewing live action Disney films. I want to hear someone educated on the subject matter they are discussing that can provide a different perspective that I on my own would not be able to achieve
If you're a comic writer, you have a unique insight on how something is written. If you're an artist, you can provide a more thoughtful analysis. Hell, you don't even have to be directly involved in the industry for your opinion to matter. But you have to give me a reason why I should care about what you have to say
You gotta cite your sources, make a compelling case, and create a convincing argument for the topic you are discussing. Even though the watchmen sequels are both awful in their own unique ways, at least someone dared to tell the story they wanted to tell. I am disheartened by a generation of youtube critics because they encourage lazy armchair critiques and discourages people from pursuing more creative and worthwhile endeavors
Remember that time Quiniton confirmed that he's both a faggot and a rapist, his words not mine.
Counter-point:
If discussion and opinions is only viable when professionals are involved, why on Earth are you on Zig Forums at all?
How is "the watchmen sequels and prequels are bad and miss the point of watchmen" a bad take
Munkey ended up simping over a pedophile that doesn't even like him, Quinton really did get the last laugh in the end.
Chances are some asshole here knows more about whatever the fuck they're talking about than in youtube
He's right for the wrong reasons.
Ones that talk about a series and it's behind the scene bullshit but barely have a grasp on it.
Mumkey's fine, he's still respected unlike quintion, who's basically a joke at this point.
While I can see and understand why you took my post as me advocating for only professionals to be able to provide thoughtful analysis, that was not my intention
My point is that in a discussion, you have to give me a reason why I should value your opinion. You have to construct a convincing narrative that is backed up by existing evidence.
oh boy, its a link to some youtubi guy sucking the cock of watchmen because he heard about how amazeballs watchmen and reciting the same critique and praise that every faggot and their slut mother has said to death.
Should I watch this? should I listen to some college dropout giving me his two cents about a subject he most likely doesn't fully understand yet assumes he does because hes got a camera? Maybe I should not and save my own brain from cancer?
Oof, hes fat, opinion discarded. Maybe one day, some yotuber will shock me and amaze me and talk about something that hasn't been talked about to death..
Hi Jimmy!
>toys are a big problem
>having a big manhatten statue in your mancave is problematic, because he isnt a good true hero in your mancave
This youtuber has a far points, but he sometimes misses the point or forget certain human behaviours.
There are people who have aliens, predators, freddy krueger or stormtroopers. He forgets that sometimes you have something because it is so evil or powerfull.
Not Jimmy, I'm someone else
> Quintin the male feminist rapist said Doomsday clock bad because it wasn’t political like HBO watchmen
>Doomsday clock about the war on terror morphing into a new Cold War against Russia and China
>Doomsday talks about how dangerous the new proxy wars in the Middle East are
>AKA history repeating itself
If anything Doomsday clock politics are more relevant and universal than HBO and Tom King Rorshach.
Triumph of the Will is considered a masterpiece in cinematography so perhaps that’s not the best example
HBO watchmen just corporate BLM flavor of the month. KKK building ray guns and stealing god powers silly compare to the
Threat of real nuclear war. New proxy wars might led to nuclear warfare. Doomsday clock feels closer to the original watchmen.
Not at all, I know it's influence on cinematography but the point I'm making is that it has a barbaric message that despite what it does right most people can hardly stomach. The only positive influence from that film was purely on the cinematography stand-point while all political aspects and message it tries to convey are derided and made it so loathed.
The political aspect ruined the movie.
Yeah, you're Tyler
>just because the author has something to say does not mean it's correct or worth listening.
Damn straight.
>some sort of political statement automatically makes it good or more meaningful.
I agree. Re-read old 70s-80s indies. They are crap, but many are considering political comics.
Nobody wants a political topic that can be seen as pushy or just political agande. That is why most comics released by goverments or ngos are crap. They feel like Mister Mackey from South Park.
I would say, you dont need to be an expert to analyse something. Thats just gatekeeping and means that every transformer movie is good because no director criticised it for being bad.
I always thought these sort of joke wiki's like Encyclopedia Dramática were usually kinda cringe with its attempts at humor.
This one hasn't changed my mind.
>They feel like Mister Mackey from South Park.
>Trump garrison
>No Mike pence mr Slave
>No big gay al Ivana trump
Not for reminding me. Geez Garrison as trump could been comedy cold. Instead it just matt and tray bitching about trump instead of giving us jokes.
We get it Quintion your still mad, just fuck off mate.
