The train has a universal translator according to Owen Dennis.

How does that work for rhymes?

sauce?

it would make more sense if he said that all denizens that speak know every language and the train is simply large enough that the conductor can keep passengers from running into eachother if they dont have at least one language in common. a trainslator would make it so when the cat speaks french, no one can tell.

That sounds needlessly complicated

>If you somehow entered the train with an animal you'd be able to talk with that animal
Now that would be trippy

this, but does nobody really notice the cat's french?

i suppose the simpliest answer would be that the train only picks up english speakers

Anglophone Train

That's racist

Wasn't Simon French?

he had a french last name and he spoke a bit of french without and accent

Yeah. I suppose that shows that it does not pick up solely Anglophones.

>and he spoke a bit of french
when?

I think I remember him speaking French too, but I don't recall the episode.

mur deffes l-ingliz f oxx ommok ja pufta li int

She was paired with Simon originally, and Simon appears to be French based on character design, last name, and a moment where he speaks French. That would suggest that they pair denizens with people who speak the same language maybe?

They all got Babel Fishes in their ears.

I always figured that Simon is actually French with English as a second language which is why he got paired up with The Cat.
It explains a lot.

His socks with sandals.

His last name.

Why he would be so upset about loosing a spelling bee to board the train, it just points out his inability to speak proper English in front of a crowd.

The sad thing is that we see he's writing a fantasy novel in English proving how much he has mastered the language or is confident enough to write a novel. And Grace literally won't read it. If she just gave it a read the damn thing his number would have dropped to zero in an instant.

end of the swiss chalet car, all he does is return her "au revoir".

no accent though

What an ugly ass fuckin coon
>hurr I need to wear my hair in disgusting shit braids because of my dumb island religion about a lion or whatever
Black people are truly repugnant

We saw him after months on the car. He was getting Americanized.

So Simon's problem was some kind of racial linguistic insecurity? It does make more sense like that.

And yet the French dude wanted her anyway. What the fuck is wrong with them frogs?

One-One: Accidentally resumes the Great Cat-Dog War

Amelia: Nobody designed the train. I mean, somebody might have started before they got fired, or voted out, or sold it. But if the train ever had a purpose, it got miscommunicated, or lost in a shuffle. I mean, this is an accident, a forgotten perpetual public works project. Do you think anybody wants to ask questions? All they want is a clear conscience and a fat paycheck. I leaned on my shovel for months on this one. This was a great job!

Young Simon: (teary and sniffling) Then why? Why put people in it?

Amelia: Because it's here. You have to use it or you admit it's pointless.

mad?

So would Lake be forced to stare at Tulip as she took a shit from the perspective of the toilet water?

Pretty sure Simon proved universal translators are given to everyone. Pretty sure that guy was French like says.

>Pretty sure that guy was French like
But he spoke perfect english with no accent when he first met Grace

could have also been French-Canadian tho

The voice actor was Anglo. The casting messed up with all the French characters. There was an interview where they assumed the cat's voice actor could speak French or at least do an accent but she couldn't.

No, their butts would just be pointing at each other. Unless Tulip poops with her face shoved between her legs, staring at the water, Lake wouldn't have to look at it. C'mon, man, think this through!

>French-Canadian
Interesting. Would give him more reasons to be severely insecure about it like said.

>could have also been French-Canadian tho
If he was raised in Montreal, Ontario, New Brunswick, etc.. that's a strong possibility.
It really depends how close you are to anglo communities or if there's a lot of tourism

The rings can't translate rhymes.

If they had universal translators, then how come the couple of times The Cat said quick little French phrases, those phrases weren't translated? If there were universal translators, those phrases would have sounded English, just like everything else.

has a point but it would still be uncomfortable and that's why She didn't want to talk about it with Jesse

>how come the couple of times The Cat said quick little French phrases, those phrases weren't translated?
Because we're watching the show from a third person point of view? We don't know how Cat French sounds to passengers.

If Tulip makes funny faces at the mirror and things like that, does Lake see it?

You can't blame him for following the prime directive to blanda up.

Yes but We are talking about poops here.
