Can we finally admit Moore is right and making superheroes "realistic" only makes them look stupid and out of place? Only people that think otherwise seem to be manchilds that want their stories for kids to be taken seriously so they feel better about the fact they like movies for kids
Can we finally admit Moore is right and making superheroes "realistic" only makes them look stupid and out of place...
Based and true.
lol nah
Yes. But consoomers don't like truth.
Yes. Superheroes with powers don't need realism. They don't need to be grim & gritty. Street level powerless heroes like Batman should be grounded in reality only as far as their technology & abilities go. They should still be idealized paragons.
>They should still be idealized paragons
They should be whatever the fuck the author intends to be.
I tend to prefer lighthearted stories but I will never understand the hatred that the general public has developed in recent years for anything remotely serious, grimdark, or edgy.
Cope
Obvious manchild
You cum over garbage for kids and call me a manchild?
>Can we finally admit Moore is right and making superheroes "realistic" only makes them look stupid and out of place?
No, because when they're adapted to real life making them be tic for tac like the comics makes them look stupid and out of place.
>makes his name making superheroes realistic and fallible
uh...ok? you're the guy who made this a thing. moore is a stupid hypocrite
>Can we finally admit Moore is right
He's never been right about anything in his life, but go off.
Seethe.
>the hatred that the general public has developed in recent years for anything remotely serious, grimdark, or edgy
snyder fatigue
Cope harder.
I think in general it depends. I've actually grown less and less find of the Nolan works because I tend to think that their attempt at seriousness was pretty silly. Consider Winter Soldier. It's a Marvel non R spy thriller, but as far as serious in universe goes it's pretty good. They capture intense moments. There's solid moments of conflict and anger, but it doesn't take itself too serious. Batman is a bit harder. Capturing the feel of Gotham and the grittiness is pretty hard. I think it has to do a lot with the fact that for most heroes we can embrace a sillier side thanks to the original and powers, but Bats just has a lot of trouble as a serious entity on the big screen. He's a normal dude, sure he can be trained, but he also has a rogues gallery that kind of varies and attempting to use them without thought results in a bad product. I genuinely think the best way to make Bats on big screen serious is to do a clay face story and really lean into the body horror. It would make the Batman environment feel so much more alarming and dark, and we could set up clay face as a catalyst to break the minds of people in the Bats realm leading to a more enjoyable dark environment. But as a dude in a bat suit fighting mobsters in a serious film, solidly meh.
>Moore
Too late to apologize, Alan. Decades too late.
>You cum over garbage for kids and call me a manchild?
Heh? Stopped watching capeshit movies a long time ago
>snyder fatigue
He made like 3 capeshit movies one of which (MoS) wasn't even that dark it just had a serious tone but compared to MCU movies it probably came off as a grimdark edgelord movie
If thats the case then spidey needs to tone down the dark drama and realism then by your logic even though he has powers and is more popular than superman because of it.
Embrace the silliness of the comics its part of the charm and have a good time
Also RISE ATLANTIS
Fuck off. Whatever the author wants is how you get completely inconsistent characterization.
People are sick of escapism being miserable & mean spirit, retard.
no
>Mean spirited
Autism.
What?
>Whatever the author wants is how you get completely inconsistent characterization.
Authors are free to give their interpretation of the character if it takes place in a completely different universe like those capeshit movies.
Don't remember people bitching when they turned Star-Lord into a joke character.
>People are sick of escapism being miserable & mean spirit, retard.
Those people aren't me and you certainly don't speak for them.
It isn't written anywhere that a serious story is by force 'miserable, mean spirited" or whatever term people use to demonize any sort of story that plays it straight.
But Marvel somehow makes it work, by making costumes look plausible (mostly). On the other hand, if you don't put Batman in his stupid suit, he isn't Batman.
The Winter Soldier was garbage
>Can we finally admit Moore is right
How about (You) stop spamming variations on this thread instead?
Bring Robin back to the big screen. Why did Batman get a second chance, and not Robin.
You don't speak for those that did complain about Star Lord. The problem is he was already an unknown comic character so the movie version popularized him in the public's minds. That's why he was so well received.
Playing a silly concept straight is not equal to making it miserable, grim, gritty, or edgy.
>mean spirited
What if I want a story about a protag overcoming the odds in a dystopian world, and giving those responsible for the shit state of the world what they deserve?
Who said this movie is realistic? Judging by the leaked set pics Mr. Freeze, Superman, and Wonder Woman exist in that universe
We're talking specifically about cape stories. If you did something like your idea then you should have the hero be the light in the dark world. Not someone who's as dark as the world he was born into.
