Why does every superhero or super villian needs a sidekick? Isn’t that the purpose of being super?

Shotas are for...

protecting

It's a holdover from when comics are for kids. Adult characters would have younger sidekicks so children reading could have a POV character and think about how cool it'd be to hang out with Batman. No one is brave enough to update it by givi a major hero a sidekick who's also a late 20's/early 30's autist.

this, also it's a useful narrative device. someone the hero can explain stuff to so the reader gets a conversation instead of internal monologue, which can get boring.

also the teacher/student dynamic is a good way to flesh out and display the hero's personality, their belief system, even explain their techniques and powers. again we could get this from text boxes or thought bubbles, but that gets boring after a while. sometimes the hero just needs someone in the scene to talk to and look cool in front of.

exactly. it's the Sherlock and Holmes dynamic but marketed to kids

sorry, sherlock and watson, not holmes. i had one beer.

Cause their cute

Is that why there’s majority of white related characters instead of minority?

Even though the super hero is "super," he or she is still a singular person. A one-man team wont get far unless they are OP

Superman, Goku and Saitama are all op and still need help from weaker people

SUpergirl wasn't really Superman's sidekick. I wished she was, freakin' slut flying with a miniskirt, I needed those ass shots.

DC is really the only company that has sidekicks anymore, though like a good portion of the industry wants them gone, from Starlin to Didio,
Marvel really only has Bucky, and even he is practically being forgotten as Cap's sidekick , to being remembered like he was his former partner who-is-totally-not-a-sidekick-what-so-ever

ass you say

Sidekicks are unnesscary in an age when comics have long stopped being marketed to children. Plus kids just want to be the main hero. Not the sidekick. Then there's the fact since no one ages or dies, sidekicks never take the mantle from the mentor. Comics are just like this. A big waste of time & "effort".

Not true it’s called Doctor who and his Companion.

Is love to see an episode of Kai where The Z fighters sit Goku down to help him with his taxes and Vegeta tries to finish first only to fuck it up. Turns out they all fuck it up and Gohan has to sit down and do all there taxes.

Goku & Vegeta don't have jobs. They don't pay taxes.

Do you think any of them realize that also Goku’s a farmer now.

Ah, it's an excuse for shota content again..

Well I’m dragonball most of his world save moments had nothing to do with the greater good. Most of Goku is just he wants to fight.

Super villains don’t have sidekicks, they have henchmen and right hands.

why does everyone hate shotas
