There's nothing wrong with his canon older design, but this one feels like what would have happened if the show had stayed like s1.

Maybe that can explain the lack of fat on him (less sugar, more mobile) but that doesn't explain why he has no facial hair or stubble.
His older design just feels too safe. Like they didn't want to be innovative.

it looks so much better look at those proportions he actually looks older. I hate when there's a timeskip and the characters all look the same what's the point, Steven has the exact same design just slightly stretched out and it's hailed as like this great redesign.
