For the first time since it's premiere in 1966, "It's the Great Pumpkin, Charlie Brown" will not not air on television. All Peanuts specials are now exclusive to Apple TV+.

Good.

Why can't they just air them on both platforms?

Because Apple TV is a huge failure and they need big exclusives like this.

Lame!

>Not watching the Great Dolemite instead

Nigga please

Jesus, what's next?
TBS/TNT won't do 24 hours of A Christmas Story during the holidays anymore?

All of the boomers who don't understand streaming or piracy are going to be devastated.

I own all of the specials on DVD, but it's always been a tradition to watch them live on TV with my family.

Who even watches this every year? And can't you just find it on dailymotion or something any given day anyway?

I do. But by now I assume everyone who does has it on DVD or VHS.

I like Peanuts and its animated specials. I live in a country where this never aired on television, ever, so I'm not particularly sentimentally affected by this. I empathise though, I did appreciate the fact this was a nation-wide past time, something shared simultaneously, and that sounded cool.
Though, I have friends who tell me that the airings sucked: cut and full of ads, and that television is a dead medium anyway.
I think I might stream this for my US friends later this month.

Kinda sucks that we live in an age where Peanuts is exclusive to Apple shit. Doesn’t really effect me though, I have most of the good specials downloaded so I’m good to go every year

Halloween is cancelled this year anyway

Real men try to Halloween anyway.

>look it up on dailymotion
>it has the exact same commercials as the one on my VHS copy

Actually gay as fuck
No one is going to AppleTV just to view this, it'll just stop being a tradition

Not where I live.

Well that's fucking depressing.

I already have all the specials in my media collection, but making something as traditional as the Peanuts specials exclusive to one streaming platform is just in bad taste. The depraved corporate greed has no shame.

That's horrible, especially going with Apple TV plus of all things... who even uses that? I have the specials on DVD etc... but it's still fun to watch the same night as bunch of other people. They are screwing with tradition for no reason.

I get they're going with Apple TV because they're doing that new cartoon show, but if they stay exclusive on there too long it could have long-term bad ramifications for them. Think of how Looney Tunes got less public visibility once their cartoons left network television and went exclusively on cable.

They did two different airings of the Peanuts specials each year. A cut half-hour version and an uncut hour version that features another shorter/cut-up special.

Man, my dad is gonna be bummed about this come christmas time

I don't even have a stake in this and it makes me mad.

At this point why wouldn't anyone just buy them on DVD/Blu Ray/Digital? Not that this isn't shitty news but what will this really accomplish since most people aren't going to sub when they could just buy.

The DVD's better still be available

Fuck that, I'll just get a dvd.

That's stupid because anyone who was looking forward to it most likely has it on VHS or DVD already.

As a kid I'd watch it after getting back from trick ot treating.

It's a comfy bit of nostalgia.

Forget "[X], Charlie Brown" we got "Don't pull the DVD's, Tim Cook"

But the boomers who watch this don't know what Apple TV+ even is.
Would someone seriously watch this on AppleTV and not say, Dailymotion or rips off of Youtube?

Wow, thus ending a 54 year streak.

They'll ask their kids to pirate it for them and they'll just do that.

Who even uses Dailymotion? (at least it's better than buying an Apple product for their streaming services just to watch freakin 'Peanuts

My boomer parents are extremely disappointed by this

Looks like the death of one of my favorite cartoon franchises since I don't use Apple products

Part of the tradition for me is watching it live with all of the Halloween themed commercials. I have it on DVD but it’s not the same.

They also announced Snoopy in Space: Season 2. The Snoopy Show isn't Season 2 as people originally speculated. They also announced 4 new holiday specials (Mother’s Day, Earth Day, New Year’s Eve and Back to School) presumably by the same crew, so don't expect them to be on the same level as the classic specials.

68% of Americans planned to celebrate last year. 58% this year. But that 58% is projected to spend 7% more.

Halloween has been altered. Not canceled.
