Hello, Storyteller.
How much more of Astro City is there anyway?
Hey OP
That chibi origin story sure was a thing.
So anyone in this thread into 80s fantasy shit and/or Dragonlance and/or D&D might be interested in Tracy Hickman & Margaret Weis suing Wizards of the Coast:
boingboing.net/2020/10/19/margaret-weis-and-tracy-hickman-sue-wizards-of-the-coast-after-it-abandons-new-dragonlance-trilogy.html
I guess for clarity I don't like the setting or any of their books but it's some odd gossip.
It was honestly more sad than anything. Protip for writers; if you don't know anything about video games, please don't write stories about video games. It's gonna keep e up nights trying to figure out what the hell genre that game was supposed to be.
Indie retro action RPG/run and gun like Cuphead or IDK whatever the modern equivalent of Shadow over Mystara is.
The fact that it was written in an age where the internet exists and is full of both information on and footage of video games is embarrassing.
At least the Captain N dudes had the excuse that they'd have to go out and get consoles and copies of the games. Burt could have learned everything he needed while sitting in a chair.
Makes me wonder what his Final Fantasy comic would have been like.
Yo, KB was going to write a Final Fantasy comic?
>At least the Captain N dudes had the excuse that they'd have to go out and get consoles and copies of the games. Burt could have learned everything he needed while sitting in a chair.
I mean, they could've just called the companies they were working with and asked for a basic summary at least.
>Makes me wonder what his Final Fantasy comic would have been like.
Busiek wanted to make a Final Fantasy comic? Oof.
hey everyone, short run tonight, my brain is deffo not here
This is wild
Yeah, I wanna say it was after Final Fantasy II came out in North America. Art was by early Mignola.
It was originally going to be an original story set in the same "universe" (?) but Square wanted an adaptation of II (IV) and it eventually fell apart.
I really hope that's supposed to be Cecil and Kain.
Now I want to see actual Dragon Quest comics based on the Nintendo Power art
BRB making a 'Which way, Western weeb?' meme with this art and the little girls from Geshin Impact.
Huh. Looks nothing like Final Fantasy. Like, at all. And you say this was around when IV came out? Yeesh.
I suppose it stands to reason then that the woman is meant to be Rydia. Again, looks nothing like her.
Sorry to hear your brain is frazzled OP but be as short as you like, np.
Hey OP.
These aliens look like pumpkins.
>that black and white creature
Wow, evolution has fucked this thing over proper.
one of my uncles was in a pretty bad accident and :|
Aw, shit. How bad? What's the situation like?
>How much more of Astro City is there anyway?
An unholy amount, apparently.
Yep, this was firmly in the era where no one thought anything cute, pretty, or the least bit feminine could sell in the US because only boys played video games here. So if something did get localized, they'd put big musclemen on the box.
Which is why they originally weren't going to bring Pokémon over, even, until Yamauchi-oyabun insisted that kids would indeed buy the Pikachus.
I'm sorry OP.:(
Are you just bringing this up because I mentioned reading them yesterday?
In any case, that's not terribly surprising. Hickman and Weis have been fighting for the rights to Dragonlance since the 90s. They're kind of in a "DC has to print Wonder Woman comics" kind of situation.
not sure yet :|
>Shadow over Mystara
That's just a D&D flavoured beat em up, which itself is seeing a number of indie revivals, including of genre staples like Streets of Rage, Double Dragon, and River City Ransom.
Nah I wasn't around for yesterday's thread but I know there are (other) people into genre fic and D&D in the thread.
Also I don't wanna interrupt the thread too much so I'll spoiler but here's a highly relevant isekai comic too (2 pages).
.... was Joe Mad supposed to draw it?
Didn't they announce that baller Scott Pilgrim game was finally being re-released?
Saw this earlier and almost shared it with y'all
And of course, the infamous American Kirby, who is always fucking pissed.
I'm really sorry to hear that. I hope things work out for the best. If there's anything the thread can do to help please let us know.
Streets of Rage was my OG beat em up back when I was a kid on the Sega Megadrive, but I don't know what's current.
you should definitely share. I probably see about 10% Transformers content naturally as the true doom murderhead robotfuckers who were with us for the big storytime.
I called off work today because i never do and I just didn't fucking feel like it, so I'm just going to drink and play vidya because worrying is pointless
also this story is just boring
Worrying is for sure pointless but sometimes you can't help it. Just do what you can.
It made me think of a Transformers crossover with Zambot and Daitarn.
Or you know, just Super Robot Wars.
MURDER MAZE OF THE EMPEROR'S DEATHMOON is a sick adventure title.
I 've never played any of the DQ games, but that does not change my enthusiasm for that art.
Damn. That's some fine Generic Fantasy Characters.
one of Busiek's strengths is his pulp sensibility
Yeah, any chance user who posted can share the artist?
Sorry to hear that, OP.
Keeping it to one issue and then letting you go get dog cuddles seems right, then.
It's interesting on paper. Perspective of evil empire citizens and how they start to see through the propaganda. But unfortunately, the characters are fairly one-note, and it's playing the concept far too straight, with no real nuance, so it's not clicking.
Yeah, the concept is dead on but it has no verve to it
she's been super-needy AND a hunty little hunter today
Dang, their parents are space fat.
>the infamous American Kirby, who is always fucking pissed
You woulda been too, if Stan had taken all your credit.
