>despite being treated as an antagonist of sorts, the jock character ends up getting his way in the end despite everything.
What are some other shows that do this
Despite being treated as an antagonist of sorts...
I don't know if one would consider bender a jock or not but there was plenty of episodes where nothing happened to him at the end despite doing whatever he wanted.
Archer
real life
Spectacular Spider-Man
Reggie in Archie often occupies a role like that
But Archer is the protagonist.
imagine not shaving your armpits
tfw she just wanted to be barefoot and pregnant
These newer fans are seething over Abe too much. I'm convinced they're projecting. Like they really think Abe is the scum of the earth or some shit.
NOTHING BAD EVER HAPPENS TO THE KENNEDIES
Doesn't Flash get dumped, then gets injured? And he also idolizes a person who's real identity is someone he bullies--seems kinda like he didn't really get his way.
Jfk is the authors true self insert.
Well he is voiced by one of them
they're probably just all self-inserting as Joan
Maybe so but the put JFK on a really high pedastoll
JFK was always true to himself. He may have been something of an ass, but he knew what he wanted and he went for it. Contrast to Abe, who clearly chased women for shallow reasons, but still pretended to be a sensitive soul. When Joan finally figured out that Abe was a total fucking cad, she was taken by JFK's forthright nature. I suppose there is some argument to be made that JFK was taking advantage of her moment of weakness, but I'm not so sure about that. I like to think they genuinely connected for a moment.
Anyway, that's the kind of thing I hope they get into in the revival, whatever form it takes.
>breaks up with Liz
>ends up with another hottie
>he has enough pride in what he does to do the right thing, despite what he paid for it
>helps clear the hero he most admires' name and helps him beat one of his greatest foes in one encounter
>in spite of his feelings towards Peter, he not only shows up at the hospital to support his aunt, but also gives him a reality check and helps him get back to reality (also helping his hero without knowing it)
I like it when Flash is a genuinely good guy underneath it all
Depending on the writer, there's atleast one page where Flash just says "What do you mean Bully? That was just bants, bro. You're the one who became a dick about it"
I think a lot of them relate to Abe too much and wish they were JFK.
it really varies from writer to writer
in some, he's like a bully from a 00s nick tv show, in others he just likes to fuck with Peter a bit
doesn't help that Peter is usually portrayed as completely innocent. prior to Ben's death (and even in several issues after) he was a gigantic douche
Abe didn't pretend, he was just an idiot. He only ever chased Cleo because despite being a shallow horny moron he believed it was love.
JFK was only ever a horndog until maybe the end, and was constantly a prick in his pursuits. Albeit an entertaining lovable one.
Does JFK actually love Joan, though? Or is she going to end up a girl of the week for him regardless of him finding her attractive long before Abe did?
I mean yeah because they're all parodies of those archetypes but people forget that Abe is still a well meaning dude and cares about his friends.
ha ha ha haaa
Abe is aware of Joan's attractiveness but just wasn't interested in her because they have a platonic relationship (just like those damn teen sitcoms) as he mentions it over a list of things about Joan in the basketball episode
Salty seconds my boi
it's high school. do you really love your prom date?
at the end of the night, JFK was attracted to Joan and asked her to the prom long before Abe ever realized he had feelings for her and tried to cheer her up after Abe broke her heart. what happened next is ultimately up to speculation because it could just be seen as him celebrating another sexual conquest or just him bathing in the afterglow
Yeah, I think it’s because of the whole himbo trend and the very end where he was nice to Joan. There’s a lot of teenage girls watching Clone High now, and they can probably relate to trying too hard for a guy who doesn’t notice it. That’s why they call Abe a simp even though Joan spent the whole show basically begging Abe to fuck her.
I think out of what little spider-man ive seen, i prefer spectacular's flash the most. He was a legit bully, but also developed out of that in a natural way. it's also super cute how flash was peter's bestie in pre-school
...so, nigga?
