but scenes like that seem more like an attempt to be... shocking? funny? "haha you thought bad thing happening is bad but its actually GOOD! HOOHOOO DEEP!"
that along with all the drugs and sex jokes and drugs and that good good mr. iguana and "its a spin on magical girls except everything sucks" make me think the creator is just a cynical n boring human being

it also hits just about every note for what would be considered satire of this exact crap

I hate this style of architecture. I'm an architectural pleb by my own admission but this shit is just so soulless.

They really couldn't because they aren't smart enough to actually get away with it.

Sure they can generate money to pay 800 dollar rent and buy small things, but once you start selling gold and/or putting 10k a month or more (or hell 5k a month) into your bank account, the IRS is going to start asking questions as to where this money is coming from.

It's the same problem gangs/drug sellers have, needing a front to wash the money.

These things would never even cross their minds, they already are shown to have been selling shit on ebay to get $, and you can bet your ass they dont pay taxes on the sales like they are supposed to.

I'm not an expert either, but I think it's just overdone and trite by now, it's been done for more than 50 years, it's not novel or interesting anymore, it's just boring and lacks the intrinsic appeal of other styles of architecture.

Yes, this is supposed to show them being shitty and self absorbed and this is supposed to be amusing and set the tone of the whole thing. Being in this thread feel like I'm going through Scott Pilgrim, except with people who think that Scott is supposed to be unironically awesome because he 'wins' with video game stuff. Because that's what this basically is, a parody of similar inner city hipster types, with with mahou shoujo instead of vidya.

Dislike it all you want, but the basic misreading of this whole thing, like the whole attitude of "of course anything with a 'sassy' black lead must be unironically assuming she's awesome" is just weird, as understandable as it is given how many things actually do this.
