It would have made them a mirror version of the Crystal Gems with Yellow Diamond as their Rose Quartz for showing what Crystal Gems without Rose would have been like

Spinel was ok as a villain. But I'm not sure how her staying villain would have worked after everyone realized she was just a very confused and angry gem.
The only way would to make Steven shatter her as it was originally intended.
And then ressurect in Steven Universe Future.

Exactly it was stupid

I feel one of the Diamonds would make more sense.
They really laid the sympathy thick with Spinel so letting her stay a villain would leave a bad taste in everyone’s mouth. Someone like White Diamond on the other hand would be more fitting as a permavillain.

I like Lapis more as a deranged psycho too far gone. Notice how bland and generic she ended up being once turned a hero. And even then they ignored a lot of toxic elements of her character that were never resolved
