Honestly I kind of expect them to relaunch a Batgirls team book in March with her mentoring Cass and Steph.

I would rather have a BoP book, but done well. DC tried once or twice post-Flashpoint but it kept falling apart.

New 52 they decimated the team by the reboot. They gutted Babs Oracle career by removing the team from existing while she was Oracle and not having her found it, they rebooted Dinah giving her crappier origin and backstory and removing her relationship with Babs, and they removed Helena and Zinda from the team and existing.

Rebirth was a little better out of nostalgia mainly. They started out following the New 52 continuity with Babs and Dinah meeting Helena for the first time, they eventually went back on it and stated the original pre-flapoint team existed later in the books run. And Lady Blackhawk is still missing.

The highjacked by Harley movie synergy crap is just that. It denigrates the no Harley member s to secondary status. The main characters of Birds should be Huntress and Back Canary, not Harley.

Though Id' like us to get a good Birds of Prey relaunch alongside Batgirls. Barbara can make time to do as much of Oracle stuff as needed for everybody.

And I wonder about doing either a Birds of Prey book as a stealth Batgirls book, or the other way, a Batgirls book as a stealth Birds of Prey book. Barbara back as Oracle (Just fry that stupid goddamn chip nobody but Didio ever cared for fucks sake.) and have Huntress and Dinah show up as constant friends to Babs, and mentors to Cass and Steph.

Why would it be suicidal? I really do think Didio is the only guy to really care and think it was a good idea.

But anyway. I doubt it would be suicidal if it's immediately done to launch a diverse female team book lead by characters with fan support. Just from a strategic current year point of view, they gain so much more with Barb in the chair and Cass out in the field.

I don't think this will be recieved particularly well in the larger fanbase. Wheelchair-bound Barbara is a ship that has sailed. Trying to put her on a wheelchair again for fucks and giggles would be manipulative at best and offensive at worst.

Frying the chip would be tantamount to admitting that the opinion towards Babs has never moved passed "cripple the bitch."

Oh there are plenty of Babsfags out there and on these boards who live in fear of her being disabled again and scream and wail about misogyny and how disabled people shouldn't exist in the DC universe who would raise hell fuck they already freak out over the smallest things. They're nervous over her being Oracle on a regular basis while healed for god's sake.

Though I don't think it necessarily be suicidal in that I don't think it would impact sales greatly, It's more trouble than anybody at DC wants to deal with.

My idea: Have her undergo experimental stem cell therapy. She's already got nerve damage from fucking up her implant. She hasn't seen a real doctor about it. And you know they're going to want to milk that for drama eventually. So make it be the center of an arc where she's benched for a couple of months and forced to rely on Steph and Cass. And once she's back on her legs, let her take the time to heal and build up her strength before leaping rootops again. Fuck the implant, stupid idea. But healing her through semi-plausible medical means wouldn't be that big an ass-pull.

There will never be another BoP book without Harley. Every other character is optional.

Because it hasn’t. “Cripple the bitch” happened because Babs’ Batgirl was redundant and unnecessary, and that really hasn’t changed at all. Hell, it’s actually gotten worse because now there’s half a dozen more capable “Batkids” running around instead of just Robin and Nightwing.

The implant isn't a stupid idea, it's based on real world experimental treatment for spinal cord damage. A lot of people don't realize that regenerating nerve tissue damage is a major topic of research and experimentation that is seeing a lot of positive results. The stupid part was playing it up for drama to the point it's practically a running gag.

You are badly underestimating how many people would scream bloody murder about it. Comics is a small enough community as it is.

Birds of Prey doesn't need Harley, and Harley doesn't need Birds of Prey. Harley has lots of other venues. Huntress, Black Canary and Lady Blackhawk do need Birds of Prey. What else are they suppose to do?
