Most Superman parodies rely on a patriotic aspect that hasn't been part of the character for a long time now, and was only there to begin with because at the time most pop culture had to be like that.
Why can't they make commentary on Superman without making him blond and dressed in stars and stripes? Why don't they just parody Captain America instead?

>Able to show a masculine antagonist as evil because of his ulterior motives

>Today's cartoons can't have this concept anymore; any masculine character is bad just because he's male

Different times...

major glory always felt more like a captain america parody than superman to me, despite the superpowers

>Superman but illegal
Timm you fucking hack

He was both

Captain America wasn't as big into the normalfag sphere until the MCU

Because Superman is more imposing

Major Glory was definitely more of a Captain America parody, especially with his team being a Thor parody and a Hulk parody, it was pretty clear that the Justice Friends were meant to be an Avengers parody. Pretty bold of them, too, considering the Avengers weren't known by normies at the time.

>Superman but evil
Gunns you fucking hacks

>All Might but western
Shuster and Siegel you hacks

That's not evil Superman. That's charlatan Superman.

Major Man is more "Superman, but Fake" if anything.

Ennis is a hack, though, some other user got that right.

This picture but extremely unironicly.

Also, no Superman parody or satire or deconstruction is ever accurate to the character and his personality. It's just guy with his powers and then the writer doing whatever.

The best take on superman turning evil might actually be Irredeemable. It's wirter actually like Superman, ironically enough.

I read it yesterday, I liked the setting, the space nut house and the ending

Genndy Tartakovsky is an overrated hack

All the media says is Dexter's, Samurai, Clone Wars, Emmys...

I just wanna grill for God's sake

Superman is cooler than a guy with a shield

Justice Friends was also satirizing the Super Friends, so if you didn't know the Avengers you still got the joke. The Hulk was always well known anyway.

>Superman but he's card themed
Savino you miserable fucking hack

>>Superman but he's an alien
user....

>Why can't they make commentary on Superman without making him blond and dressed in stars and stripes?
Because
(1) even if it's downplayed today it's still a major part of his character
(2) DC is doing a pretty good job themselves making "what if Superman was raised a communist" and "what if Superman hated humanity" and "what if Superman became dictator of the world". And guess what, in every one of those stories the American Way™ wins over Superman's heart

this image is so fucking cool
why has noone done anything with these characters

If Scoob! gets a sequel they could do it.

they totally should
we need some goofy heroics especially after all the "realistic" takes on superheroes
also this image is missing yo boi Rat Man
