What happened to good movie posters?
What happened to good movie posters?
Murdered by marketers
Japan still makes them good
Then post one of them
John Alvin died in 2008.
Nothing is good about DBS trash.
It's fine as one of those posters you put on your wall but it's nowhere near the league of kino posters.
Chico and Rita
Not as soulful as before
Why did the Renaissance have such wonderful posters? They all gave a vibe that you were watching a literal epic.
But you just posted the worst Indiana Jones poster.
>huge closeups of famous man face to sell tickets to the masses
>middle clusterfuck of yellow and brown noise. sun, horse, trucks?? no idea what its about
Enter Temple of Doom Poster
>the composition oozes raw sex appeal
>Indy is wielding badass weapons like a fucking machete this time
>ominous, foreboding temple in background, yet our hero could not give a single fuck because, yes, he is that cool
>it beckons the viewer to witness the mysteries and horrors within
NO contest.
>But you just posted the worst Indiana Jones poster.
And that just further proves my point.
What happened to good movies?
Forgot the best one
They wanted to appeal to adults.
Only the Pocahontas and the Tarzan ones are the official posters are the finals from those. The little mermaid, beauty and the beast and aladdin teaser poster were cool as hell.
Notice how they stopped using taglines after Pocahontas....
The movie’s fine, but this isn’t a very good poster.
I wonder if Katzenberg was the one who pushed for the taglines. Disney stopped using them after he left, and the hand drawn films by Dreamworks used them
Because they were all done by John Alvin.
And so were pic related.
Photoshop.
Modern world hates everything that invokes strong feelings and loves mundane shit so everything is mundane. Look how bad election posters are too. 70 years ago parties tried to come off as badass aas possible and made posters with aesthetics, today all posters are the damn 3DPD faces of the respective politicians, some light blue background and a gay line.
I think you can also notice this with the stuff people produce nowadays and the media that is popular among the masses.
The mulan poster makes it look like an actual action movie, in reality there's barely any action in it, mosly dumb songs.
la PINCHE PUTA
un JODIDO castillo en el CIELO
The lion King one is gold.
Nah, I hate this
I get that it's an eyesore, but it's not badly drawn
>some light blue background and a gay line
hurrrrrr
This is funny because I wasn't thinking of this while I wrote it but as I hit the submit button I suddenly visualized their posters. I mean I generally meant light blue = non-threatening while red = "aggressive" but it's still fitting. Literal gay party.
Also, good that I realize another thing now, it's always either boring words-only minimalism for political stuff and company ads and such or, for movies etc., it's images that are so stuffed with lots of shit of all types of colors that it feels trashy as fuck.
You say that like it's a bad thing.
>Quest for Camelot
What a waste
