Does Zig Forums not like this movie or something?
I love this movie, you don’t need to expose your shit taste op
>character mentions they're gay
>I'm a retard so this sends me into an uncontrollable meltdown
>I seek out any avenue to let the creators know how evil and bad this is, so I do something impotent like give it a bad review on every website
it's too original for its own good. audiences like consuming the same shit over and over
not disney no didney bump
Movie has a weird moral. The victim is the villain for wanting some justice in the world.
It's a little on the nose with its message, I'm not going to lie. The whole film is great and technically competent but the message is like, toddler show tier shoved in your face.
The victim is the villain because she became the very thing that killed her. She was bullied, she became a bully. The towns people who killed her have repented, but she was still angry.
Just becuase she is a victim doesn't mean she can't be the villain. That's literally the epitome of Tragic Villains
Coraline set the bar too high. Laika has yet to make a movie that has reached it's level, and instead each movie they release has been worse than the last.
>reached it's level

Cry more, fag.
The zombies were bad the entire time what are you talking about? They killed a little girl and tried to kill Norman.
To Norman right? He’s a cute shota
This was and still is the best way to make a gay character. It just casually comes out he’s gay. They don’t say something like “I’ll drive the van but just so you all know I’m gay.”
I rewatched the movie 2 days ago. You should try doing that too.
The zombies weren't trying to hurt anyone, they wanted Norman to read the book.
Never seen this movie, so don't really care. Thank you.
Nah, there are plenty of good ways to make a gay character.
Wallace Wells is a great gay character, it's big part of his character, but he's got other fun traits beyond it too.
TV Negative Man is a pretty great gay character too. It's central to his character arc and turns his abilities into a metaphor for his inner demons (which I thought was enjoyable)
I don't think it was a weird message but the way they got there was awkward and didn't make me sympathize with the zombies the way the writers probably intended. At the end of the day, she was still a little girl who was killed by adults who admitted they let their fear and prejudice influence them into doing it. Aggie learning that if she let her hate consume her into blindly hurting others the way the zombies did she's just continuing the cycle of abuse is fine, but the problem was the people she was hurting weren't sympathetic either.
>That Courtney puppet
72% Is fair enough meaby a just little higher.
>setting intended for older audiences
>beautifull animation
>really clever dialogues
>very strong first act
>boring second act
>weak antagonists
>flimsy third act and moral dilema
Also yes. If this was a pixar flick everybody would be masturbating to this movie and calling it revolutionary and brave for it's ending.
I'm with the other user on this. The only good way to make gay character, is to make it how gaysthe normal non-extremist gays want to be treats. By making it an insignificant part of the character. It never mattered, and, hell, was part of a joke at the sisters expense.
I'm bi. Sexual orientation isn't supposed to be a personality trait, it's just supposed to be what you wanna fuck. Insignificant to anybody but you. My being goth is more important than what I wanna stick my dick in.
Some people make being their orientation integral to their personality, that's why you get those megafags and megachads, both have a way they walk, a way they talk, a way they dress, and a way they impress, rhyming kinda intended. To these types, being gay or straight is so important to them that it's almost a personality flaw.
To anybody to who this stuff is actually related and matters to. We're just normal people, who Happen to be gay, striaght, or bi. It's not integral to our character, our character is more than our sexual orientation.
It's Who Am I, not Who Do I Wanna Fuck?
Obviously to the dead ten year old who got lynched
>Do you use free weights? Cause your deltoids are huuuge
>I never used deltoids in my life. I swear. You can test me.
This movie can be so smart at times
I'm gay and I say that that's basically just turning it into a total non-trait. But that's not very realistic. It shouldn't be the biggest character trait someone has, but one's romantic and sexual desires are generally a pretty big part of who they are.
Actually I think my favorite recent gay portrayal was probably Ellie from TLoU2. Not for the romance itself, I mean it was fine I guess but it was no Drake and Elena. But it was just part of her character. It wasn't insignificant, her relationship with Dina was a big subplot throughout the game, culminating with Dina leaving her at the end when she couldn't abandon her revenge, and the whole thing was treated normally, aside from the one homophobe who had like 2 minutes of screentime in a 30 hour game. You could have changed either Ellie or Dina's genders and the story would have basically played out exactly the same (aside from Dina's pregnancy I guess), but it's still an important part of her character arc.
I'm for normalization, but I think a variety of portrayals are all valid. The only kind of portrayal that I don't care for (aside from very special episodethat sticks out in an otherwise normal work tier, see Dragon Age Inquisition for a good example of that though aside from his personal quest Dorian was actually p great) are the ones that are just tacked on to say "Hey we got a gay character". Korra is an example of this where we only learn she's gay or bi I guess in literally the final seconds of the show. Actually I suppose Paranorman kinda falls into that too, it was perfectly fine for the time, but I think we can do better. There's a middle ground between rubbed in your face and it's fucking nothing.
i have nothing for or against the gay dude, i literally dont care, but the movie was just ok. thats why. the frankendog claymation was way better
It's okay. It has its good qualities but I'm not a huge fan of the direction the story went. And I say that as someone who can barely remember it even though I watched it like a year or two ago.
lmao reminds me of the thespians joke in Rango
