Could they really not replicate the old animation?
Why does the animation look so janky?

Everything's done digitally now and they don't have anywhere near the budget of the old series.
>the new 1990s Looney Tunes shorts looked awesome
>New Looney Tunes Cartoons are tw*en shit
ONE NOTHING WRONG WITH ME
No user, they couldn't bring back traditional cel animation, a dead art form that new cartoons haven't used since Whatever Happened to Robot Jones. Now, before Zig Forums goes into another autistic fit, I should note that you can have fluid animation and still be digitally colored.

That being said, it's ungodly expensive. Animaniacs looks a bit jank because they're trying to have the best of both worlds, while achieving none: Digital animation that is both hand-drawn but also digitally colored, and tweening animation to clean things up a bit. I should remind you guys that not every episode of Animaniacs looked great, in fact, several looked like dogshit.
>not every episode of Animaniacs looked great, in fact, several looked like dogshit
This. Not every episode was done by TMS or Startoons.
The sad irony is that the people behind the new show specifically set out to emulate TMS. Design-wise, okay. Animation-wise... eehh. At least they're not Freelance.
Ignorant question: does the animation software they're using prevent them from shading the characters?
Digital animation to have the exact same outcome is supposed to be cheaper because it's no longer cel work. But fucking christ instead of using the same or even half the same budget as before digital animation they just used it to take every single shortcut and make terrible garbage under the guise of "no budget" Literally 1 minute of awesome fluid animation will result in the rest of the season being done in fucking flash with 80% tweening.
Your retarded trying-to-sound-smart response is negated because OP specifically said replicate.
> they don't have anywhere near the budget
Are you the accountant?
Studios make more profit today than ever. Thats why there's new studios opening up every six months. This is a remake and easy money, its way more expencive to design an original series.
I can tell it doesn't have the budget just by looking at it. As said they just use digital as an excuse to cut corners everywhere.
TMS tried to come back, but Mr.Wild forced them to do Tower of God because TMS had the license since 2015 and Warners was in talk of buying Rooster Teeth/Crunchyroll.
TMS then begged them to do retakes at "Ground Zero" and delay the show by 1 year but instead Mr.Wild forced them to do Shenmue:TAS because "Hope you like Shenmue, because we're not letting you have this back", TMS ended up suing them because of it and Amblin/Spielberg is on their side because he wanted them to run it with no gaijin in sight in the first place.
Out of all the stuidios only Tiger Pro. is passable, the rest are unwatchable at best.
Agree.
>Could they really not replicate the old animation?
in a word, no
They legally can't do that.
Everyone who knew how to animate was fired after the success of Shrek and then died
>looks good in promotional stills
>janky tweening throughout
studios do have the money to make it, they just won't give it the budget to be genuinely good
you either need to be cheap (shitty designs, flash, animated in the 3rd world, etc) or you need to be very reusable (3d CGI with a ton of reused assets)
they're also limiting themselves by keeping it for HBO Max. I seriously doubt someone will just buy a subscription just to see a shitty animaniacs reboot
Reminder that all of the greatest TV cel animation of that time period was done in Japan, without exceptions. Transformers, BatmanTAS, Thundercats, Animaniacs - all of the best-looking footage in those shows was drawn in Japan (and all of the worst-looking - in South Korea). American animators couldn't be arsed to draw something as good as that even back then, let alone now.
Nu-Animaniacs is Hulu.
Pretty much.
Piss off, Famicom.
>I don't go to 5Ch.
Not really, I'm just trying to stop the eventual autism in the thread.
Case and point, fuck off Famicom
this, old animation will be better for a long time, specially in anime
because its not animated by the chosen people japanese anymore. its actually some mutt junk outsourced to korea
Now is the time to start protesting and refusing to give these companies any money.
Tiger Pro. (contracted by Tonic DNA) is the only passable one, and they're the same studio who did Castlevania:TAS (under the name Mua Films).
Wang Films Productions did a lot of episodes of Animaniacs, too, and they were generally much better than Startoons. Out of all the studios that worked on the series, I probably liked their designs the best.
Not true, Wang Film was just OK, Startoons was great.
>the studios makes more money than ever
Yeah, by paying slave wages, animating digitally, cutting corners, and outsourcing animators. The result is studios making money by producing an inferior product.
It’s been this was since the 2010s
Japan with a handful of exceptions has always been like that.
But everyone has to stop doing that and we need to protest and goon strike.
This matters 1000x more then BLM.
Dignity>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>Profit.
What's stopping them from applying a few simple filters to actually achieve that 80s cel look? Digital artists can pull it off pretty convincingly.
This.
I like their art style better than their animation.
The second animation unions join BLM and Antifa out in the streets, The Mouse will directly fund an army of skullcrackers to march out and brutalize the riots out of existence
How would this pan out in animation? The only anime I've seen that did this well was Megalo Box.
idk. if it's about money how do the jap and chinks do it?
Pretty much this.
